Accountant - Budgeting & Planning, based in Penang, Malaysia

The WorldFish Center, headquartered on the island of Penang, Malaysia, is a world-class scientific research organization. Our mission is to reduce poverty and hunger by improving fisheries and aquaculture. We have offices in 8 countries and engage in collaborative research with more than 200 partners in more than 25 countries. The Center is a nonprofit organization
and a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
A unique opportunity has arisen for gifted individuals to contribute to the mission of the Center.

*ACCOUNTANT – BUDGETING & PLANNING
*(6 months temporary)


Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation, maintenance of annual budget of the Center and monthly budget revisions; and perform monthly analysis with Project Accounting Team in compliance with guidelines;
• Participate in the testing of new budgeting process in close collaboration with IT staff
• Assist in the processing Human Resource Allocation revisions and coordinating and maintaining database to ensure accurate personnel cost data is reflected in the accounts;
• Assisting in the preparation of management and perform monthly closing;
• Assisting in the budgeting and analysis; and proper maintenance of files and supporting schedules.

Skills and Abilities

Essential

• Must be meticulous and have good organization skills;
• Proficient in English language both in writing and orally;
• Ability to deliver timely and accurate reports;
• Sound basic book-keeping knowledge;
• Computer literate, team player and good interpersonal skills; and
• Good analytical skills.

Desired

• Proficient in using SAP system (Desirable) or other analogous system
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications specifically in Excel and Access.

Qualifications and Experiences

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping (Intermediate level and above) or equivalent; and
• 2-3 years relevant working experience.

Desired

• Experienced in costing and budgeting in multi national company; and
• Experienced working in a collaborative environment.
