Interns at AFSC Indonesia

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) Indonesia www.bina-damai.net is a Quaker organization which includes people of various beliefs to commit to social justice, peace, and human services. Humanitarian Work AFSC based on the belief that everyone is worthy of respect and that love to overcome violence and injustice.

AFSC has worked for 5 years in Indonesia. These programs include AFSC Indonesia Aceh Post-conflict Recovery Program and Tsunami, Program Capacity Building West Timor and Youth for Peace Program. Of the three priority programs mentioned above, the youth program in the future are expected to be a program AFSC seed from Indonesia. This is because the AFSC look at youth has the potential to become a locomotive to move and spread the values of peace. In addition, youth have strategic value as future leaders of character.

As a way forward, AFSC promoting the development of the movement of young people from various backgrounds that progressive and dare to do criticism and social change in the concrete for the community. Development of youth programs the future is expected to expand
impact on social change. AFSC Indonesia is committed to support improvement capacity building for youth activists from various backgrounds, both from the environment campus and outside campus. It would be interesting and full collaboration color with the extent of variants that are active in youth activities peace-building.

To support the above matter, AFSC Indonesia entered into an internship program for youths in Yogyakarta to support the work of AFSC Indonesia in the development of youth programs in Indonesia. Through This program, AFSC Indonesia will recruit 1 person youths who have a background behind the youth movement, the experience of pluralism, broad network among young people and is expected to enrich the dynamics program AFSC youth in Indonesia. Internship program is designed for the period 6 months, with the goal to appear younger cadre of progressive activists and dynamic with new ideas and intelligent action for social change.

Staff competency criteria and Youth Apprenticeship:

- Teeny max age 25 years; is studying, have passed, whether or not college.
- Based in the city of Yogyakarta
- Understand and pro by the issue of pluralism and multiculturalism
- Experienced actively in the activities / movements youth and the like.
- Easily collaborate with anyone
- Understand and can appreciate the issues contemporary youth
- Like challenges and creative
- Have the ability in conform to high environmental
- Understand the basic administrative management an activity
- Having the ability to communicate verbally and written
- Being able to internalize and practice values and principles prevailing in the AFSC Indonesia
