Position Title : Operations
Assistant I (Farsi Speaking)
Classification : Employee, Grade 4
Duty Station : Jimbaran - Bali, Indonesia
Type & duration of contract : Special All Inclusive, 3 months with possibility of extension

General functions:

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Officer/Head of Office in Jimbaran, and overall guidance of the Senior Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will assist the office oversight, supervision and monitoring the implementation of efficient coordination mechanism between Indonesian authorities in regards to handling irregular migrants. In particular he/she will:


1. Ensure that all basic services are provided to all Irregular Migrants (IMs) under IOM auspices in a timely and efficient manner. Basic services to be provided include accommodation facilities,
appropriate food and water; basic personal supplies, toiletries and recreational activities. For this, daily visits to migrants, logistics support and follow up on activity plans required.
2. Perform interpreting/translating duties for IOM and its counterparts dealing with irregular migrants in Indonesia. This includes participating and facilitation of high level meetings with excellent language skills and diplomacy are required.
3. Obtain biographical information and case history of migrants. Maintain up-to-date records on the IDC mapping and inform on individual cases of new arrivals to IDC.
4. Provide advice and information for migrants to ensure they are aware of their situation and rights as an irregular migrants in Indonesia
5. Identifying and informing to Head of office, of any vulnerable case/s that you may come across or become aware of their situation during your duties.
6. Manage the operational expenses and closely coordinate with Head of Sub Office and Finance on budget requirements. Ensure good understanding of SoPs and reimbursables allowed by the programme.
7. Delivering information pertaining IOM programs, UNHCR and competence of Immigration in handling migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in Indonesia
8. Advice migrants on their option to continue stay in Indonesia or voluntary return to their country of origin
9. Ensure that IOM statistic report and other relevant documentation pertaining migrants case load, utilize the correct names, status and file numbers
10. Assist in preparation of movements and ensure adequate documentation and information used/provided to relevant parties.
11. Assist in preparation of regular reports as per IOM and Programme requirements
12. Strictly observe and adhere to IOM Code of Conduct; and Data protection and confidentiality policies.
13. Perform any other duties assigned from time to time and commensurate with position

Desirable Qualifications :

Diploma in political, social science, Farsi Language or business administration. Demonstrated previous work experience and proficient in Farsi. At least one to three years of experience in any of these fields, particularly as Farsi Translator and in dealing with migrants and trainings.

Effective organization skills and ability to establish priorities and plans, willingness to travel. ability to work under pressure and cope with deadlines. Proficient in computer applications.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural environment; results oriented and respect for deadlines. Flexible and easy to adapt to a rapid changing environment.
Ability to work harmoniously and effective as a team and at times individually.
Language: Proficient in Bahasa Indonesia, Farsi and English
