Background
Save
the Children (SC) is a leading, private child-focused non-governmental alliance
of 30-member organizations that works in 120 countries throughout the
world. Save the Children has worked in Indonesia since 1976 to promote
health and nutrition, education, child protection, livelihoods, and emergency
preparedness and response.
Save the
Children in Indonesia is changing for the better. We've begun to build a
national organisation that aims to be a strong, local, and self-sustaining
voice for children in Indonesia namely Yayasan
Sayangi Tunas Cilik (YSTC). To this end, YSTC has been designated as
a “Prospect Member of Save the Children” which focuses on strengthening and
localizing our voice for children in strategic middle-income countries. Currently Save the Children’s
programs in Indonesia is implement by YSTC. We work in eleven provinces, have
staff of approximately 300 local professionals, and programming in Child
Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and
Humanitarian Response.
Start
from February 2018, Save the Children through support from Procter and Gamble
(P&G) developed a program to promotes gender equality as right and a
healthy lifestyle for school age girls and boys in 2 districts of West Java;
Bandung District and Cianjur District. Gender inequalities and stereotypes
affect everyone and are only resolved by involving both sexes.. Gender equality
awareness and sensitization is a building block to ensure girls and boys make
healthier choices and live more fulfilling lives.
Objectives
of the study
The
baseline study aims to:
1. Analyze the pre-existing
situation of health, hygiene, and nutrition services in assisted area,
including the availability of school health facilities and mechanism or standard
operating procedure (SOP) to protect children from School Related Gender based
Violence (SRGBV).
2. Analyze pre-existing knowledge,
attitudes, and behavior of students, teachers, and parents in assisted area
toward future planning equitable for girls and boys, health and hygiene
practices, adolescent sexual reproductive health, violence free parenting/
teaching including School Related Gender based Violence (SRGBV), and hygiene
management for boys and girls (Puberty and Menstrual Hygiene Management).
3. Identify pre-existing government
support in promoting girl and very young adolescent (VYA)-friendly services at
school and in the community.
Deliverables
1. An approved methodology proposal containing
outline of proposed methods, activities, planned timeline, and deliverables for
the evaluation. This should be submitted by
2. Draft baseline report to be
discussed with PDQ team. This report should outline the analysis, major
findings, conclusion, and recommendation to be finalized in final report.
3. Final evaluation report in
English and bahasa Indonesia, 4 hard copies and one electronic version in Word
and PDF.
4. Presentation of results in power
point. Those should be submitted in the same time with the final evaluation
report.
