Background
SNV is an international not-for-profit development organization that works in 35 of the poorest countries around the world covering water and sanitation, agriculture and energy. SNV’s small scale domestic biogas program has benefitted the lives of over 2 million people worldwide.
SNV is currently looking to establish a presence in Indonesia and is undertaking preparatory work. With the financial support of EEP Indonesia and SNV, we will be conducting a pilot project with local partners to examine the potential of Medium Scale Biogas Project in Central Kalimantan. 10 medium size digesters will be constructed at community cattle sheds with the gas produced distributed to nearby households for cooking and lighting. We are now seeking a Biogas Technical Consultant who can manage the technical and quality management components of this project. This position will work under the guidance of SNV’s Senior Renewable Energy Advisor and works closely with local construction partners and government authorities. ResponsibilitiesAssist in designing new biogas model for this projectAssist in identification of appropriate construction sitesAssist on developing construction manuals and training manualsProvide technical training to local masons and supervisorsTake the responsibility for maintaining high quality biogas plant construction standards Monitor the construction and functioning of plants regularlyProvide regular feedback and advice to partners and masons on technical improvementsArrange user training on operation and maintenanceAssist in developing digester operation system Coordinate with local government, local communities and local partner on biogas constructionCarry any other assignment as and when requiredDuty Station: Central Kalimantan or Jakarta with frequent travel to Central KalimantanCandidate Profile Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering (Master's Degree in Civil Engineering is preferable)At least five years of experience working in civil construction, quality control, product development, supervision, training or similar rolesAble to be based in the field or make frequent field visitsGood writing and verbal skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia Good training and communication / human relation skillsBiogas experience (desired)Willingness to learn and contribute with innovative ideasContract Duration: A one-year consultancy contract will be offered through SNV’s Vietnam office.
