Vacancy Announcement: Communication and Outreach Specialist, based in Jakarta

Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the
Communication and Outreach Specialist, based in Jakarta on our USAID
Indonesia Forestry and Climate Support Project (USAID IFACS).


USAID IFACS seeks to reduce the threats of deforestation and climate change,
and help the Government of Indonesia (GOI) conserve the country's tropical
forests, wildlife, and ecosystem processes (including carbon sequestration).

This project integrated outreach and communications strategy to stimulate
stakeholder awareness of and support for improved services and practices
necessary to achieve overall program goals and objectives. The strategy is
using baseline survey of knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) to provide
the baseline for developing campaigns, communication activities and allow
for measurement of progress over time also to verify project deliverable.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Communication and Outreach Specialist will work closely with the
Communication and Outreach Advisor, Communication team in the regional
offices and technical team both in Jakarta and regional offices, in order to
develop and lead the implementation of the Communication and Outreach
Strategy in each target landscape.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

1. Develop and lead detailed work plan for implementation of the USAID
IFACS communication and outreach strategy in each landscape.

2. Work with USAID IFACS staff and partners to develop content and
messages for website, brochures, and other media.

3. Provide training to field staff on the use of media for message
delivery.

4. Identify advocacy strategies and develop appropriate mediums for
advocacy messages.

5. Develop media campaigns in support of USAID IFACS activities.

6. Support USAID IFACS grantees to develop appropriate outreach
messages for communities and other forestry stakeholders.

7. Analyze and compile lessons learned as the basis for creating
communications messages.

QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

University degree in communications, psychology or related discipline.

At least 10 years' experience related to media development and
communications. USAID experience preferred.

Familiarity with or training in Behavior Change Communications strategies.

Experience developing and adapting multi-media messages for a diverse range
of stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to train and build capacity for advocacy.

Demonstrated ability to develop and lead effective public outreach
campaigns.

Strong written and verbal communications skills and proven management
skills.

Native fluency in spoken and written Indonesian;

Professional competency in spoken and written English.

Ability to engage in activities occurring in multiple field sites with
multiple stakeholders across Indonesia;

Willingness to travel extensively in Indonesia.
