GIZ Vacancy - Technical Project Professional for PAKLIM


The Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. PAKLIM, a Program advising and supporting the national government, local governments and industries with climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives.  Our Work Area 1 in national policy advice seeks qualified Indonesian candidates for:

Technical Project Professional
A.     Responsibilities
       The staff is responsible for: 
§  Under the supervision of the National Senior Advisor, the Technical Project Professional is coordinating the provincial/districtteam on all works related to the cooperation in Palembang;
§  Developing concepts, means and strategy of cooperation implementation for the Locally Appropriate Mitigation Actions inPalembang
§  Supporting the team at National Level to coomunicate and coordinate with local partners
§  Supporting partners with professional advice and organizational aspects in developing and mainstreaming Locally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (LAMA/RAD GRK) platform at provincial and selected districts levels
 
B.     Tasks
1.   Management and coordination
§  Contributes in developing a concept and strategy for capacity building at the Province and Districts Levels in regards to climate change issues and the development of Locally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (LAMAs) in the Land-based Sectors.
§  Communication with project partners in facilitating the formulation, and implementation of annual workplan of the LAMA Working Groups at Province and District Levels
§  Provides professional advice to the counterparts and other stakeholders on the development of Locally Appropriate Mitigation Actions at Province and District Levels. 
§  Assists national and international advisors as well as consultants in carrying out their work related to the project activities
§  Assists the project with all organizational and management issues
§  Participates in formulating project plan of operation and helps to synchronize it with the counterpart’s plan
§  Jointly responsible with the partner institutions for preparing and documenting training events, workshops, forums, team meetings and other project activities
 
2.   Communication and networking
Ensures cooperation, regular contact and dialogue with counterparts; Carries out public relation work and cooperates with relevant public and private sector as well as NGOs and individuals in the project/programme environment and with other projects to improve and maintain good working relationships
 
3.   Knowledge management
§  Ensure the quality of consultants’ report which related to the above tasks;
§  Coordinate the results and lessons learned documentation
§  Organize all the data, methods and knowledge documentation related to the above tasks
 
4.   Other duties/additional tasks
Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
 
C.     Required qualifications, competences and experience
§  University degree in forestry, environmental management or other degree relevant to climate change mitigation program;
§  About one to three years’ professional experience on institutional capacity development and policy advisory work on local government level
§  Understand the basic concept of sustainable development in relation to climate change
§  Having knowledge on spatial and development planning process at different multi-level governments
§  Having basic knowledge on geographic information system particularly in relation to the land based sectors
§  At least three years’ professional experience in a comparable position

Other knowledge, additional competences
§  Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
§  Strong managerial and organizational competence
§  Willingness to travel to districts regularly
§  Good written and oral knowledge of the English language widely used in the country.
§  willingness to up skill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
