Mercy Corps Indonesia sees an
opportunity to increase Indonesian farming families’ incomes and improve
their lives. Through targeted and well planned programs, Mercy Corps
Indonesia is working to impact farm household incomes by increasing their
access to agricultural inputs including improved seeds, fertilizers,
financial services, and modern tools and equipment.
Mercy
Corps Indonesia also works to change the
income of the farmers by developing the farmer model business. There are some
groups that have run business opportunities in Subang, Banyuwangi and Lombok,
and this can help improve the farmers' economy.
To
accommodate the project, Mercy Corps Indonesia
decided to make case study to see how
the approach and business capacity
building that was developed by POWER (Mercy Corps Indonesia)
impacted FGUs and smallholder farmers (FGU members).
The Case
Study will be to engage FGU members from all three POWER locations to produce
a comprehensive set of learnings from all districts. Mercy Corps Indonesia will also engage in key informant
interviews with private partners to understand their experience collaborating
with POWER and how their engagement has impacted business growth.
