Introduction and Background
The national Peatland Restoration Agency
(Badan Restorasi Gambut or BRG) was formed early 2016 by the President in response to the massive
forest and peat fires
of 2015 which affected approximately
850,000 ha of peatland. Subcomponent
1.6 of the Berbak Green Prosperity Partnership (BGPP} aims at institutional
strengthening of BRG.
MCA Indonesia and
BRG on 6
March 2017 entered into an
Implementing Entity Agreement (IEA) that
aims to support
BRG with activities
that are
designed
to mitigate
risks associated
with the
implementation of the
peatland restoration
components in the Green
Prosperity Project
currently
in implementation,
and
complete the foundational mapping
and engineering work for additional
peatland rewetting both
during and
after the
GP project
is completed. MCA-I intends
to provide
a comprehensive
suite of technical
assistance, training,
and institutional support
to BRG
staff, and staff
from other
ministries that support
and/or collaborate with BRG, to help the agency fulfil its mandate.
The Berbak Green Prosperity Partnership (BGPP) is
funded by Millennium Challenge Account Indonesia (MCA-I). Various areas requiring training and capacity building
support have already
been identified by MCA-I and BRG. One of these is
cost-benefit analysis and multi-objective decision making. BGPP has been selected by MCA-I to provide the capacity building /
training.
Sub-component 1.6 of the BGPP has job
openings for three (3) local Experts for Studies, Module Development and
Training on Cost-Benefit Analysis and Multi-Objective Decision Making, of
related peatland rewetting projects.
The selected candidates will be expected to start
working with BGPP in early October 2017. Details of the positions are listed below:

1)
Expert for Studies, Module Development and Training on Cost
Benefit Analysis
|
October 2017 – End December 2017
|
· Perform cost benefit analyses for two peatland rewetting
projects and demonstrate the process for multi-objective decision-making in
written case studies.
· Based on the results of case studies and state of the art thinking in this topic, design a training module and training programme
for BRG and key line ministry staff as well as public and private sector
stakeholders in social, economic, and environmental cost benefit analysis and
multi-objective decision-making, related to peatland rewetting projects.
· Implement the training
·
Prepare a
report on the result of training, which includes among others: pre and post
tests on participants of training, participants of training and the summary
of the training process.

· Minimum of a Master Degree in e.g. Environmental
Economy, or other relevant discipline
·
Minimum of ten
years relevant working experience
· Excellent project administration and reporting
skills, in Bahasa Indonesia and English.

2)
Field and Training Assistant Expert
|
October 2017 – End December
2017
|
·
Assist the
Expert mentioned above in 1), performing the field surveys to obtain data of
peatland resources, and facilitating the training implementation on cost benefit analyses and multi-objective decision-making,
related to peatland rewetting projects.

· Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in e.g. Environmental
Economy, or other relevant discipline
· Minimum of three years relevant working experience
· Excellent project administration and reporting
skills.

3)
G.I.S. Assistant Expert
|
October 2017 – End December
2017
|
· Assist the Expert mentioned above in 1), cross checking
remote sensing maps with the existing
field data, delineating the peatland
landcovers for various uses, and preparing the required thematic maps, for the cost benefit analyses and multi-objective
decision-making, related to peatland rewetting projects.
|
· Minimum of Bachelor Degree in e.g. Geography, or
other relevant discipline
· Minimum of three years relevant working experience
· Excellent project administration and reporting
skills, in Bahasa Indonesia and English
|
