GIZ Indonesia for the Green Chillers project: NAMA Advisor

The Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. In order to support Indonesia's effort to conserve energy and to reduce GHG emissions a "Green Chillers" project was launched. The project, which is funded by the Germany Ministry of the Environment under the International Climate Initiative, is jointly implemented by GIZ and the Indonesian Directorate General for Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (NREEC), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. 

The main objective of the project is to support Indonesia in creating framework conditions which support energy efficiency improvements in the refrigeration and air-conditioning (RAC) sector in industry and commerce.  Further information on GIZ and Green Chillers project can be found at www.giz.de and www.greenchillers-indonesia.org

The Green Chillers project is a part of the Energy Programme Indonesia/ASEAN and is located in the NREEC at Jalan Cikini Raya, Jakarta and project office at Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, Jakarta. We seek a qualified Indonesian candidate for:

NAMA Advisor

 A. Responsibilities

• Supporting the preparation and implementation of Green Chillers project activities in coordination with Principal Advisors and the project partners;
• Supporting the sector-specific NAMAs strategy development process including MRV for RAC at relevant ministries (especially MEMR (DG EBTKE), BAPPENAS, KLHK);
• Supporting awareness-raising activities targeting the private and public stakeholders on the benefits of Green Chillers and actively seek opportunities for their implementation; 

Within this context, s/he fulfils the following tasks:

B. Tasks

1. Professional advisory services

• Advise partner institution(s) on identifying needs, developing concepts and strategies, and provides technical input related with development of a sector specific NAMA initiative including MRV to be embedded in Indonesia’s national NAMA strategy.
• Provides policy recommendations and develops a strategic approach for the promotion of energy-efficient refrigeration / air-conditioning technologies in the RAC sector 

2. Coordination and networking

• Establishes cooperation with relevant government ministries, departments and associations related to NAMA strategy;
• Develop and maintain close contacts to relevant stakeholders on cross-cutting tasks amongst all projects of GIZ and in the GIZ Energy Programme Indonesia in particular;
• Communicates local interests and efforts, forwards these and encourages sharing ideas and information for the benefit of the project; 

3. Knowledge management

• Prepare reports and publications;
• Prepare workshops and Focus Group Discussion (FGD);
• Stay abreast of developments in global and Indonesian approaches for energy efficient cooling applications;

 4. Other duties/additional tasks

• performs other duties and tasks at the request of management;

 

C. Required qualifications, competences and experience

• Science orientated Bachelor degree, with good understanding of socio-economic aspects;
• Familiar with the major issues of energy efficiency in Indonesia, which is based on at least three years’ work experience in the sector;
• Able to work with climate change mitigation data
• Prior experience in sectoral NAMA strategy development and/or sustainable financing in Indonesia is advantageous;
• Good networking with relevant stakeholders in NAMA in Indonesia;
• Working experience in an international development organisation is preferable.

 Other knowledge, additional competences

• Very good communication skills with national stakeholders;
• Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office);
• Fluent written and oral knowledge of the English language; 
• Willingness to travel on official business.
