Mapping Consultant for Youth-ICT

The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (Johns Hopkins CCP), a not-for-profit human development organization, combines the science and art of strategic communication to help people around the world make better choice for themselves, their families and their communities.  Based in Baltimore, MD, USA, Johns Hopkins University is one of the largest Medical and Public Health schools in the United States.  Johns Hopkins University established Johns Hopkins CCP over 25 years ago to consolidate several health communication programs and focus attention on the central role of communication in health behavior change.  Johns Hopkins CCP is a part of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health within the Department of Health, Behavior and Society.  The mission of Johns Hopkins CCP is to use its core strengths —strategic behavior change, knowledge management, advocacy, capacity building and research and evaluation— to achieve these goals.  

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for Consultant for Youth-ICT in Jakarta.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:             The Johns Hopkins CCP manages the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded “Reinvigorating Family Planning in Indonesia” project, known as MyChoice Indonesia.  MyChoice is designed to contribute to the Government of Indonesia’s family planning goal to increase the nation’s modern Contraceptive Prevalence Rate (mCPR). MyChoice currently promotes it’s “Right Method. Right Time. My Choice” demand generation initiative to young and newly married couples through an integrated, multi-level campaign that includes TV spots, SKATA consumer smartphone app, SKATA website,  community mobilization activities and multiple active social media communities.

To further support the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) to expand and improve family planning in Indonesia, MyChoice is working with an Adolescent Reproductive Health technical working group to develop and support strategies to increase the age of marriage and decrease the fertility rate amongst adolescents.  In 2016 MyChoice conducted a qualitative study to examine the sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents and their parents. The study revealed that unmarried adolescents both need and want easily accessible, reliable, stigma free sexual and reproductive health information. In response to that need, the MyChoice project will develop sexual and reproductive health content for youth and their parents..  The content will be developed based on the qualitative study and insights from technical working group partners and youth themselves. The youth content will be hosted on a Hipwee-hosted microsite, while the parent content will be hosted on the SKATA website. Hipwee will be responsible for developing the content for youth and parents, while Johns Hopkins CCP will be responsible for overseeing the technical quality of that content. Johns Hopkins CCP will also be responsible for coordinating the involvement of the TWG and it parents throughout the initiative.

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:      MyChoice Indonesia will utilize the expertise of the consultant to map youth-friendly health service provider all over Indonesia. The report from the consultant will be used as reference for young people to access youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services in our youth website within dokter gen Z. The consultant will work for the duration for 4 months. He/she will be responsible for the following:

●      Developing methodology to collect and map the data from Puskesmas, medical doctor, midwife, private clinic, NGO clinic and other health provider which relevant in providing access to youth friendly sexual and reproductive health services

●      Identifying health provider which regard themselves as youth-friendly

●      Making the final list of health provider to be fed in the youth website                                                        

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master degree or equivalent in relevant discipline, preferably in medicine, reproductive health, Obs&Gyn, public health, demography, communication and/or other related social science field, with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience with international development programs in analyzing large scale of surveys in Indonesia, especially the ones related to Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) issues, such as, SDKI, SKRRI, and Susenas; has a good networking with key stakeholders of ARH in Indonesia; ability to work in a multi-cultural setting under tight deadlines; and, have excellent communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken in both English and Indonesia.
