Plan International Indonesia is presently implementing its country strategic 4
(CS 4) covering fiscal year 2017 to 2022, where the country objective has been
defined as “to identify and facilitate the removal of obstacles that prevent
children from enjoying their rights and participating fully in Indonesian
society”. The organisation’s purpose is to “strive for a just world that
advances children’s rights and equality for girls”. This goal will be achieved
by providing technical support and implementing quality programs and projects
through partnership. An effective and efficient communications strategy is a
must for Plan Indonesia to share the outcomes of these projects to influence
different actors, specially state authorities and to position Plan’s profile
within and outside at different levels – starting from community, sub district,
district to national, regional and international levels.
Due
to organizational Emergency Response Project, Plan
Indonesia is looking for dynamic staff to be based in Palu
for the position:
Public Health Specialist – Contract Based
The Public Health Specialist will work as a
member of the Emergency Response Team based in Palu for the Earthquake and
Tsunami Response in Central Sulawesi. She/ he will also closely work together
with the WaSH advisor at CO in Jakarta. She/ he will overlook all WaSH related
interventions of the response which have the aim to reduce the transmission of
disease through the promotion of good hygiene (HP) practice including Menstrual
Hygiene Management (MHM) and the reduction of health risks related to poor
sanitation especially to adolescent girls and women. She/ he will support scale
up of Programmes, including input for new potential opportunities and donor
reporting related to WaSH activities. In addition she/ he will ensure
representation with external fora in particular the WASH cluster and related
working groups.
Key
TasksEnsure all Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) operations
have a clear focus on addressing the specific needs of young girls, adolescent
girls and young women. Oversight
of assessments as required, in line with Plan International’s standard tools. Help to develop and monitor adequate IEC material
for HP and MHM .Support the development of WASH related funding
submissions and subsequent donor reporting. Support
development and implementation of an appropriate WASH intervention in line with
the Plan International DRM Implementation framework. Ensure emergency WASH activities are carried out in
accordance with SPHERE and CHS and have a strong gender focus.
Represent Plan International with key external stakeholders (Government,
Donors, UN agencies, and peers). Actively participate in the WASH cluster and related
working groups ensuring regular input to the 3Ws
Knowledge
& Experience
Background in public health with focus on Environmental
health and Hygiene or other relevant WaSH specializations . Notions in Gender sensitive WaSH, especially
Menstrual Hygiene Management.
Experience in
conducting needs assessments..
Experience in the
design, implementation and evaluation of projects. Experience of representation with external
stakeholders
Skills Team
management, staff capacity building and motivation skills in teamwork and
networking. Skills in report writing . May be required,
to work during late hours, weekends and holidays in order to ensure timely
delivery of programmes. Language skills: Bahasa, English desirable . Knowledge of SPHERE and the CHS a plus
