Zoological Society of London is an international wildlife conservation organization with a focus on science-based and pragmatic solutions. ZSL has been active in Indonesia for about 10 years, with a particular focus on the overlap between industrial development and biodiversity conservation. ZSL Indonesia is based in Bogor, West Java, with existing field projects in Jambi and South Sumatera. We are now looking for:


ZSL Indonesia is a highly diverse programme with projects involving climate change, public-private-people partnerships, sustainable landscape management, in addition to species conservation (namely the Sumatran tiger), protected area management, and combatting wildlife crime.

The UKCCU/NICFI Project works with the Government of South Sumatra, national and district level governments, communities and the private sector to facilitate and support the government, private sector and local communities, to establish and pilot the sustainable landscape management partnership approach in the Sembilang-Dangku landscape of South Sumatra. The proposed impact of this project is to achieve “Inclusive economic growth and community prosperity, biodiversity conservation, forest protection and restoration, and the ending of deforestation, peatland drainage and wildfires that contribute to land-based Greenhouse Gas emissions”.

Key Purpose of the Job 
The Consultant Monitoring and Evaluation will support Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist with a focus on results within ZSL’s internal monitoring and evaluation strategy.
The post holder based in Palembang and she/he will be responsible for maintaining and implementing Monitoring and Evaluation (ME) processes and practices to measure project impact. S/he will be expected to support the M&E specialist to ensure performance indicators and output, outcome and impact data are prepared and collected.. In addition, the job holder will contribute to project effectiveness framework and learning including to support project’s safeguard, reporting and database system.  
The post holder will be based in Palembang, with occasional flexible travel to ZSL main office in Bogor.

Responsibility for Resources
People
Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator will report directly to the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, indirectly report to the Deputy Project Director.

Responsibilities
The post-holder will ensure that operations in Palembang is in compliance with ZSL and the contractual agreement with the UK government.

Main duties and key responsibilities
1.       Support the M&E Specialist in the development M&E system of KS Project
2.       Support M&E specialist to undertake Monitoring and Evaluation activities such collect the data project, entry process, database updating, review, provide simple data analysis and identify problems/issues and prepare conclusions.
3.       Support establishment and implementation of the project monitoring plan.
4.       Coordinate closely with the Manager for result and knowledge gathering and analysis, presenting overall progress on achievement of results for the project based on the developed rigorous M&E tools, processes and systems.
5.       Ensure all monitoring, evaluation and research activities are conducted in line with agreed ethical principles, and consistently promote downwards accountability to beneficiaries.
6.       Assist M&E Specialist where required with internal and donor reports and other communications of the project, meeting requirements of ZSL, partners and donors.
7.       Implement effective communication channel within the project and wider partnership.
8.       Monitor the implementation of workplan that arranged by unit and provide simple analysis regarding to the achievement.
9.       Ensure data are of a high quality and are accountable and in line with social and environmental standards.
10.   Perform other duties relating to the project, as required

Deliverable:
1.       Internal data updated. (Livelihood, Production, Conservation, Institution and Knowledge Management).
2.       Internal summary and analysis report that produced based on data collected
3.       Partner data updated.
4.       Partners summary and analysis report that produced base one data collected.
 5.     Technical report in supporting M&E Specialist that consisting by 5 components of work:  1).  M&E System, 2). Data and analysis, 3). Report, 4). Coordination and Communication, 5). Explore data   and deliverable to contribute product knowledge.

·  The job requires continued professional internal and external interaction/ communications, both in person and via phone and email
Mental Demands
· The position will require close attention to detail in all aspect of the project and therefore concentration on the work in hand – precision and accuracy being vital attributes.
Flexibility
· The position will be relatively routine in terms of day-to-day tasks during office hours – however sometimes e.g. during field trips or when a workshop is being organized the next day, some flexibility in working hours may be required. 
Working Conditions
· This post is office based in ZSL’s office in Palembang, South Sumatra. However, travel to field sites and other ZSL offices will be required. 
Person Specification

Education Qualification and Experiences:

  • Degree in Statistic, Mathematic, Forestry, Environment, Economic or other relevant educational background. Master is preferred.
  • Experience with and/or studies in monitoring and evaluation and impact evaluation methodologies, preferably at graduate level..
  • Experience of providing support and guidance on monitoring and evaluation across development program/projects.
  • Applied knowledge of project cycle management including problem analysis, project design, financial planning and management, and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Prior successful experience working in similar position with an international NGO at least 3 years.

Skill Competencies:

  • Computer literacy (good IT skills), competent in use the of Microsoft excel, word, and other MS tool, preferably have high skill in using the open data kit (SPSS)
  • Presentation skills-the ability to present data (both verbally and on paper) in a clear and digestible way.
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office, databases and virtual meeting tools such as Skype
  • Experience with data management and data analysis in SPSS or STATA highly desirable.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, including the ability to write clear and engaging reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational development skills, problem-solving skills, and good analytical and financial planning skills.
