The
Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) has a distinguished history of
scientists exploring and saving wildlife in some of the most remote and
wild places remaining on Earth. The Wildlife Conservation Society
Indonesia Program (WCS-IP) has significantly grown over the last
decades, and contributed substantially to the conservation of
biodiversity in Indonesia. WCS-IP currently has programs focusing on
Sumatra, Sulawesi, Green Infrastructure, and Illegal Wildlife Trade. In
order to achieve our overall goal of saving wildlife and wild places in
Indonesia, we aim to protect threatened species and their habitat
through conservation practice based on good and robust science.
WCS-IP
Science Unit is implementing conservation science initiative which has
two main objectives: 1) boost WCS IP’s conservation science capacity
through trainings and data analysis support; and, 2) create a forum for
discussing and advancing WCS’s conservation science throughout its
country program. In order to support the data analysis support,
cross-cutting for all programs, WCS is now seeking a Spatial Analyst
Specialist who is dynamic, well-organized, hard-working, and committed
team player to provide key technical support to the WCS’s conservation
programs.
The
Spatial Analyst Specialist will be a team member of the Science Unit,
provide technical assistance on GIS, and limited assistance on
remote-sensing, across the program, and support spatial analyses, such
as monitoring land-use change. The Spatial Analyst Specialist will
support the collection, storage, analysis, mapping, imaging, and
communication of geospatial information. The Spatial Analyst Specialist
will also support the capacity building program which Science Unit
focuses on. The position will be based in Bogor (WCS-IP).
