For its Hivos Southeast Asia (Hivos SEA) opened an internship opportunity for :
Title : Communication Intern for Open Contracting Program
Office Location : Jakarta,
Indonesia
Periode : 3 (three) months – October to December 2019
Background
Hivos is an international non-governmental organization (INGO)
that believes in open societies, in which freedom and diversity are valued
individually and collectively. Such a society welcomes diversity and offers
equal opportunities to all. We also believe in green societies, in which the
environment and the planet’s natural resources are protected and used
sustainably to the benefit of every living creature on the planet. Open and
green societies are interwoven: together they create a free, fair and
sustainable world.
We understand that we can never realize that ideal world if
corruption is rife. Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy
Commissioner, Alexander Marwata, said that 80 percent of corruption cases they
handled were related to public procurement. Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW)
also revealed that Indonesia lost around Rp1.5 trillion to corruption in public
procurement in 2017. This is wasted taxpayer money.
Therefore, Hivos and partners have been implementing an open
contracting program in Indonesia. Through this program, we work to empower the
citizens to get the best quality of public services (health and education)
through their engagement in development, especially in public procurement
process, and participate in monitoring the government’s procurement projects.
We also develop civil society capacity to translate procurement and contracting
data into actionable information for evidence-based advocacy with governments.
Hivos understands we need to deliver clear messages and call for
action to the public to get people to support our works and advocacy. We also believe that youth community needs to
understand better on this issue. To help reach that purpose, therefore, we are
opening an internship program for individuals who are interested in
transparency and anti-corruption issues and have willingness to contribute for
a better and more inclusive public service delivery through campaign and
content creation.
