Social Protection Programme Traineeship

 

“The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations.

In the context of the bilateral cooperation between the Government of Germany and the Government of Indonesia, the Social Protection Programme (SPP) assists the Government of Indonesia in developing long-term strategies for a comprehensive system of Social Protection. The National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) is its main partner. The collaboration was reinforced and strengthened during the German-Indonesian Government Negotiations in 2017. SPP is part of the “Sustainable Economic Development and TVET” priority area.

The New SPP aims to improve risk coverage and promote dependent economic existence for the poor and vulnerable to contribute innovative approaches to complement the social protection system for the poor and vulnerable. The project works in the following intervention areas: (1) Adaptive Social Protection (ASP) with a focus on capacity development for BAPPENAS and another key stakeholder in performing their tasks to lead the policy consultation at the national level and facilitating the development of the strategic recommendation for expanding social protection against risks from extreme weather events and natural disasters; (2) Financial Inclusion by supporting PT Pos in modernizing its services through the digital giro platform and expanding savings products which will increase access to financial services for poor and vulnerable groups; and (c) Labor market access for Person with Disabilities by providing advisory services and technical support for the development of the concept and strategy of inclusive design from employment promotion instruments and reform plans for the vocational education and training sector, through the Social Security Administering Body, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and other key stakeholders.

Further, from the 1st of January 2022, SPP enters a new approach by introducing actuarial science technical support to redesign and rearrange the social security benefits for the Indonesian population and improve the programme’s effectiveness and efficiency management under the leadership of Bappenas. This approach is aligned with President Joko Widodo’s social protection reform agenda as endorsed on the 5th of January 2021.

SPP is seeking 1 trainee – Indonesian candidate - for the following position: 

Social Protection Programme Traineeship  

A.    Objectives

The trainee shall support and will be mentored by the Principal Advisor (AV) and the Social Health Protection (SHP) Advisor in implementing and achieving Social Protection Programme (SPP) project objectives through activities on a global level and in Indonesia particularly. 

B.    Responsibilities

Support the SPP Project in implementing and achieving its objectives, particularly organising the project publications and its knowledge management. At the same time, trainees will be involved in project activities to gain work experience related to the SPP projects. 

C.    Tasks 

The following tasks provide a framework and can be adjusted during the traineeship:

  • Assists the AV and SHP Advisor in organising the radio talk show series, including proofreading of concept, briefing meetings with radio and media buying representatives, briefing the speakers, and taking away notes/key highlights during the talk show;
  • Support in preparing project event information/updates to the GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN communication unit in coordination with SPP’s AV and SHP Advisor.
  • Assist in providing contributions to the social media posts and articles from SPP Project activities in Indonesia and the online engagement of the initiative (website, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) in Indonesia;
  • Support AV in organising the publication materials, including factsheet, selection of photos and establishing the proper knowledge management system.
  • Support AV and SHP Advisor related to the translation of social media posts to Bahasa Indonesia;
  • Assist SHP Advisor in the organisation of training, events and meetings of the Social Protection Programme, including preparation of the agenda, documents, and presentations, as well as the writing of minutes;
  • Assist in providing general administrative support to AV in the day-to-day activities of the SPP Project;
  • Participate in the planning, execution and documentation of meetings, workshops, training, seminars and other events held within the framework of the project;  

D.    Required qualifications and competences 

Qualifications

Fresh graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Public Relations, International Relations, Law, Business Administration, Public Policy, Economy or equivalent. 

Professional experiences

  • Experience in volunteer activities or organisational activities;
  • Experience in communication such as article writing and social media posts;
  • Basic knowledge of data management;
  • Good oral and written communications in English and Indonesia;
  • Good conceptual, interpersonal, communication, negotiation, coordination, facilitation and representation skills;
  • Knowledge and skills about digitalisation;
  • Strong interest in working on issues related to anti-corruption, business integrity and gender; 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • Good communication, organisational and information management skills;
  • Intercultural understanding is an additional advantage;
  • Self-motivated with time and stress management skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision;
  • Good command of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
  • Proficiency in English and very good writing skills;
  • Ability to work in a team and adapt to an international working environment;
  • Experience with picture editing software/application is an advantage.

Duty Station: Jakarta
Working Hours: 5 working days per week, 8 working hours per day
Duration of Internship: 6 months
