vacant position Microfinance Field Assistant for “Local Cooperatives as Agents of Change for Climate Change Adaptation” Project ( Central Java based)

Yayasan Rumah Energi (YRE) was established in 2012 in the social and humanitarian fields. The organization is mandated to contribute and create positive impacts on poverty alleviation, strengthening the livelihood of grassroots’ communities, adaptation and mitigation to climate change and assisting in disaster risk reduction through innovation and shared knowledge. Our flagship program is the Indonesia Domestic Biogas Program (BIRU). BIRU has facilitated the installation of 28,864 biodigesters in 16 provinces across Indonesia. The program has impacted over 163,184 people among which 28.182 people are farmers; trained 1,275 local masons; 156 local partner including Micro Finance Institutions, SMEs and universities. YRE has also been providing social business incubation assistance to women entrepreneurs through our Pro Women, Puan (Desa) Inspiratif programs and Sustainable Cacao Farmers and Organic Fertilizer Market (SCORE) Project. Other projects that are currently being carried out include : "Seeing , Sharing and Working for Kalimalang Project, the Pro Women for Rebeable Energy Project , Local milk Sourcing Project and "Building the Foundation for Local Cooperatives as Agents of Change in Sustainable Micro Financing"Project. 

YRE will implement a year project named the “Local Cooperatives as Agents of Change
for Climate Change Adaptation” Project in Central Java to empower and enable local Indonesian cooperatives to be agents of change in the shared global challenge of climate adaptation and mitigation. The Project’s objective is to develop Local cooperatives’ s operational capacity to demonstrate readiness in implementing good governance and climate change adaptation financing. Currently, YRE is looking for a Microfinance Field Assistant to support the Project in achieving its objective, milestones and KPIs. The Microfinance Field Assistant will be based in Central Java.

I.           About the Post

The Microfinance Field Assistant will be under the direct supervison of the Project Manager. The Microfinance Field Assistant primary responsibilities are to provide knowledge, expertise and accompaniment to the local Indonesian cooperatives on sustainable microfinance transitions. Each of the business mentors will be in charge of assisting 2 cooperatives starting from baseline measurement/needs assessment, co-create modules, regular one on one mentoring sessions, provide business related feedback and support to the cooperatives and provide regular reporting to the Program Manager.      

II.         Task and Responsibilities

The Microfinance Field Assistant will be tasked with the following duties:

·     Carry out baseline and needs assessment of the targeted cooperatives

·     Co-design accompaniment program modules

·     Co-design, organize and deliver series of good governance and climate change adaptation financing workshops

·     Provide learning assistance to selected local Indonesian cooperatives in understanding modules and assignments during the learning process.

·     Assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing the program strategy

·     Conducting regular mentoring sessions and provide trouble shooting assistance related to the accompaniment program of the cooperatives.

·     Monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the accompaniment program & mentoring process to the Program Manager

III.    Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

The Microfinance Field Assistant is expected to have the following qualifications:

·       Proven experience in community development and business incubation of at least 3 (eight) years

·       Educational background of Bachelor's degree in the field of Economy, Management or community development/development economics.

·       Experience and have knowledge in climate change issue.

  • Experience in project financial management and/or monitoring & are highly desirable.

·       Thorough understanding of business management and organization

·       Have a strong teaching skills and ability to form one on one coaching strategy

·       Have a strong understanding of financial statements, sales and marketing strategies

·       Good oral and writing skills in Indonesian and English

·       Willing to travel to remote areas and working directly with communities

IV.          Term of Employment

The appointment is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. YRE offers a one-year contract.
