As a leader in identifying and
delivering solutions to address malnutrition, the Global Alliance for Improved
Nutrition (GAIN, www.gainhealth.org ) seeks to strengthen the value chain for nutritious
foods thus making nutritious diets more affordable and accessible for
vulnerable populations.
GAIN has developed the
Postharvest Loss Alliance for Nutrition (PLAN) to bring together the multitude
of public and private sector actors addressing this issue to collectively
reduce loss and waste of nutritious foods. PLAN acts as both a global nucleus
for coordination, programming, research, knowledge exchange and investment on
Postharvest food loss as well as a national hub in emerging markets for
business to business (B2B) engagement.
GAIN is now designing an
Indonesian Postharvest Loss Alliance for Nutrition (I-PLAN) to specifically
reduce losses in fish (such as tongkol), which will increase the
availability/accessibility to this nutritious food for vulnerable populations
(pregnant women) in selected areas. I-PLAN will
work within the food system to address the causes of postharvest loss by bringing
together industry experts and link them with key Indonesian supply chain actors
to improve coordination, transfer knowledge and technology and improve access
to finance. I-PLAN will focus on the addressable gaps in cold chain,
packaging/crating and processing segments that are currently restricting the
adoption of postharvest friendly practices. The I-PLAN Network will be
comprised of SMEs that work along the fish supply chain post farm gate
including but not limited to transporters, aggregators, storage businesses, and
processors
The I-PLAN Senior Project Manager will work closely
with the GAIN Global Team and the Indonesia Country Director to set up and
implement the I-PLAN program and help strategically build a portfolio of
activities. The position is responsible for operational delivery of a core
business area or operation and has a significant management responsibility and
operational impact.
This is expected to be a three year project until 2020
and will be given fixed term contracts. The ideal candidate will have strong professional knowledge and experience
related to food technology, postharvest loss and waste and food safety. In
addition, s/he will have proven ability to operate within the corporate and
public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, development
agencies and governments in multiple cultures. If you are interested in this
position please apply only via:
