Gender Equality Advisor - Jakarta based

CIDA – SILE/LLD Project – Gender Equality Advisor

The Project Supporting Islamic Leadership in Indonesia (SILE)/ Local Leadership for Development (LLD), funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and executed by a Canadian consultant firm, is to build the capacity of a) a selected State Islamic University (UIN) and a State Islamic Institute (IAIN) in their outreach functions with local communities, and b) the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MORA) to effectively integrate democratic governance practices in their strategies, programs and budgets to support university-based community outreach.

The Indonesian Gender Equality Advisor, with support from the Canadian Gender Equality Advisor, reports to the Canadian Team Leader in Jakarta. The key responsibilities will be to:

· Identify entry points to address gender equality (GE) issues
· Provide inputs in annual work planning, annual review and quarterly progress reports
· Develop the Project GE Strategy for results achievement and identify approaches/tools for mainstreaming gender together with Project advisors in each Project Component
· Provide advice to selected UIN/IAINs on advancing gender equality in institutional management/administration, curriculum development, research and teaching activities
· Contribute to strengthening the capacity of the UIN and IAIN Women’s/Gender Study Centers to serve as catalyzing agents.
· Identify approaches for enhancing and implementing gender mainstreaming in CSOs/ Communities, through UIN/IAINs and with MORA, particularly the Directorate for Islamic Higher Education
· Support the development of systems for collecting and disseminating GE information, identifying good practices and sharing lessons learned
· Monitor progress in mainstreaming GE, facilitate identification of problems and solutions by partners and ensure GE results achievement
· Advise on the integration of GE into ToRs of consultants (Canadian and Indonesian), briefing them on gender dimensions of the Project

Qualifications
· Minimum S2 in a relevant subject (e.g. social sciences, women’s/gender studies)
· At least 10 years of experience in the field of Gender Equality Mainstreaming
· Experience in working in the context of donor-assisted project preferably in the higher education sector, within a university environment and also working with CSOs and communities
· Knowledge about democratic governance principles and practices is an asset
· Practical experience in mainstreaming gender in CIDA funded projects and knowledge of CIDA Results Based Management (RBM) tools would be a strong asset · Strong Indonesian language communication skills and a very good command of spoken and written English
