Project Officer based in Masohi, Maluku Tengah

Save the Children partners with children, communities, local organizations and the government of Indonesia to transform the lives of Indonesia children and their families. Currently Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be a part of our "Sustainable Education Quality through Empowering Local Actors in Maluku (SEQUEL)" in Maluku Tengah.

Project Officer (code: PO-SEQUEL) - 1 post based in Masohi, Maluku Tengah

The incumbent is responsible to support, develop and implement education and child protection initiatives in at community and elementary schools to improve children's participation and access to quality basic education and to ensure the program in line with Save the Children objectives.

Core Duties and responsibilities are as follow:

* Work closely with schools including teachers, principals and school committees to implement project activities.
* Act as lead officer in implementing and delivering education and child protection initiatives through training and workshops to targeted audiences, to ensure the programme can be delivered properly and effectively
* Conduct surveys or focus group discussions to targeted programme audiences, in order to provide SPOs with critical and strategic feedback for improving Save the Children education programme strategies and practices.
* Develop, maintain and improve close-relationships with local officials and partners to ensure constructive working relationships that would contribute to the learning and sustainability of the programme.
* Prepare and develop weekly/monthly progress reports to ensure the provision of updated and accurate information to her/his line Manager. The reports should not only cover the impact of activities undertaken but also progress in strategic areas like working with district government or other relevant organisations and adoption of Save the Children approaches by other INGOs, government, and schools
* Suggest improvements in Save the Children programme content and strategy, to ensure that the programme focus is in accordance with the local context and Save the Children education and country objectives.
* Undertake Advocacy -in coordination with line manager--, with stakeholders in the target areas to ensure the adoption of Save the Children approaches to quality basic education for marginalised children.
* Develop excellent communication and cooperation within the team and between the offices of Save the Children in Maluku.
* Monitor partners' performance in planning, implementing and evaluating in managing program implementation

Requirements:

* Bachelor degree in related disciplines
* At least 3 years experience in education project/activity
* Good knowledge and ability to work parents and community
* Good knowledge of development issues
* Good understanding of children's issues in Indonesian context
* Good understanding of the Indonesia education systems
* Good facilitation and presentation skills
* Understand impact of conflict and natural disasters on children and communities
* Excellent report writing skills
* Ability to work with children
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Good negotiation and advocacy skills
* Ability to work with little supervision
* Computer literate
