Position title : Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Assistant
Report to : Program Officer
Duty Station : Yogyakarta
Type of Contract : 8 Months Project Based Contract
Gross Salary : IDR. 2.100.000
General functions:
The Hygiene & Sanitation Promotion Assistant will be responsible for the following:
1. Liaise with community leaders and other sectors and agencies working locally in order to coordinate within the WASH sector and between sectors such as health, DRR and environmental conservation
2. Promote safe WASH practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services
3. Implementing project activities on water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), DRR and environmental conservation promotion.
4. Gather data during needs assessments, baseline studies, and periodic studies, and help feed back findings to stakeholders
5. Facilitate appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential WASH services, it’s facilities, DRR and environmental conservation promotion
6. Educate and facilitate the target beneficiaries on WASH, DRR and environmental conservation
7. Identify key hygiene practices to be addressed and carry out appropriate activities to promote safe practices.
8 Carry out hygiene promotion activities in line with relevant standards, codes of conduct and humanitarian principles.
9. Encourage the participation of target community members throughout the programme
10. Identify any constraints and issues, particularly in relation to the community and target beneficiaries, and implement a solution focused approach.
11. Assist in undertaking initiatives promoting Muslim Aid’s image and activities in the program region.
12. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Have knowledge of one or more of the following: public health, health or hygiene promotion, community development, education, or community water supply and sanitation.
2. At least one year of practical experience in the relevant community development, health, WASH, or similar program.
3. Good knowledge and experience of working with local partner agencies
4. Experience and understanding of hygiene promotion and community mobilization in relation withwater and sanitation activities
5. Familiarwith the local culture of the target community, able to develop respect from a wide range of people and poses strong ability to communicate effectively on hygiene matters.
6. Have training/facilitation development skills.
7. Have personnel management skills.
8. Abilityto work well within theteam in difficult circumstances
