DATA entry staff

For a project to measure community vulnerability to natural hazards (Duration approximately 1 month starting late-September 2011)

Background
STATT Consulting is an international NGO specialising in working with local communities, governments and foreign donors to assist local communities reduce their vulnerability to natural hazards.

STATT is developing a tool to measure community vulnerability to natural hazards and characterise the community features that lead to communities being vulnerable to natural hazards. The purpose of the tool is to:
1. Help local communities and NGOs understand the factors that contribute to the community being at risk to experiencing harm from natural hazards and strategies to reduce ris;
2. Help local communities improve existing approaches to reducing disaster risk, find new ways of reducing disaster risk and develop local response capabilities; and
3. Help local communities, NGOs, government organisations and foreign donors consider disaster risk using a common unit of measurement. This enables NGOs, government organisations and foreign donors to efficiently and transparently prioritise and allocate resources to communities in need of and who would like assistance

Positions Vacant
STATT is seeking two data entry staff (must live or stay in Bandung City)

Job Description
The data entry staff will be responsible for:
- Attend half-day training in Bandung on how to enter the data on Tuesday 27th September 2011;
- Collect completed questionnaires from the STATT Project Manager in Bandung on a weekly basis;
- Accurately and efficiently enter approximately 500 completed questionnaires (per data entry staff) from paper version to a spreadsheet. The data entry will need to be completed to the highest standard of quality;
- Check the accuracy of the other data entry staff’s entered questionnaires;
- Deliver the updated weekly spreadsheet to STATT for consistency and accuracy checking in a timely manner;
- Receive feedback from the STATT Project Manager on the quality of the data entry and correct the data if there are errors.

Timeline
· Data entry will take place from late September until late October 2011;
· It is expected the role will take approximately 30-40 hours per week.

Experience / skills
· Excellent computer typing skills;
· Ability to operate MS Office especially Excel;
· Excellent attention to detail;
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
· Good level of conversation English;
· Access to internet and ability to send updated spreadsheets in electronic files;
· Access to email to communicate with STATT Project Manager on a regular basis if needed;
· Availability to attend a half-day training on 27th September 2011.

Location and Computer Requirements
· The data entry staff must stay in Bandung city and to collect completed questionnaires on a weekly basis;
· The data entry staff will need access to a suitable area to complete the work;
· The data entry staff must have access to a computer with Excel.
