Community Development Specialist (Coal Mining)
Jakarta Raya

Responsibilities:

Building capacity and provide support for miners and Local governments in their efforts of organisation and formalisation
Capacity building and support of organizations in developing sustainable mining institutions.
Building capacity of NGOs to become mining based service providers to their members
Support the process of technical and organizational capacity building of for compliance with existing legislation and related gold producers and Fair trade and Fair-mined Standards.
To integrate community and technical support to artisanal miners and their organizations for the development of strong institutions providing services to their members.
Coaching miners’ organizations on developing into full mineral rights organizations
Providing socio-cultural advice to the company Policy Component and provide feedback and lessons learnt for effective advocacy.
Conduct field analysis for socio-economic and technical needs of mining communities and design intervention techniques and strategies.
Promote cooperation between artisanal mining communities and relevant stakeholders (local government, large mines, policy makers and implementing agencies, academic institutions, processing plants and other service providers) to support in the development of effective artisanal mining communities.
Identify qualified service providers to implement short term activities within artisanal mining communities.
To support setting up of functioning company networks such as federations, NGOs and partnerships for building up strong institutions for ASMs.
To facilitate financial training and alternative income development for company communities.
To coordinate activities with all related government agencies such as MRAM, Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Welfare , local government officials etc.
Assess Community mining and company Policy training activities

Requirements:

Male
Strong academic and sound practical background in community development, development studies, social sciences, education or business development.
3-4 yers experience in empowerment and participatory approaches, capacity building of sustainable community based institutions. Implementation experience, and good organizational, analytical and prognostic skills. Experience with artisanal and coal mining desirable.
Commitment in working together and improving situation of small scale miners and strong facilitation, capacity building, negotiation and communication skills to interact with locals and identify their priorities and strengths
Ability to work cross culturally, in an international team, task and result oriented, ability to assess context and actors and to implement related empowerment processes
Commitment to travel frequently to the country side working amongst artisanal mining communities.
Good report writing skills and oral communication skills in English and Mongolian, as well as high computer literacy, able to prioritize and take actions, punctual, task driven and honest.
