Sr. Disaster Risk Reduction Program Officer based in Yogyakarta

Save the Children partners with children, communities, local organizations and the government of Indonesia to transform the lives of Indonesia children and their families. Currently Save the Children has an immediate need for experienced staffs to be part of our Emergencies Team and will be based in Yogyakarta.

The position we are looking for is:

SR. DISASTER RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM OFFICER - 1 post, based in Yogyakarta (code: DRR SPO-Jgy)

The post holder will support the DRR project in Yogyakarta, on planning, implementation and monitoring the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) project.

Core Responsibilities:

1. Assist Emergencies Program Manager in overall planning, implementation and monitoring of the CLDRR project in Jakarta.
2. Coordinate and maintain relationship with partners (local NGOs, government, community).
3. Ensure ethical and meaningful child participation in all aspects of the CLDRR program.
4. Establish and maintain effective partnerships with the government, NGOs, teachers, community leaders, and other stakeholders with the objective of their participation in the program.
5. Assist in conducting capacity building workshops for key SC staff members and stakeholders to understand children's involvement in DRR.
6. Assist in preparation of narrative progress report and timely submission.
7. Support to initiate the M&E process for the DRR project, in cooperation with the Emergencies Program Manager.
8. Assist in documenting learning throughout program in written and video form to be shared with regional Alliance colleagues.
9. Support the Emergencies Program Manager in advocacy work and assist in developing materials, publications and training manuals on CLDRR together with relevant SC staff and partners.
10. Establish and follow-up partnerships with local organizations in DRR program.
11. Working together with Sr. Emergencies Program Officer on Education in Emergencies Project.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience and Skills):

* Min. bachelor degree in Social Science or other related discipline.
* At least 5 years working experience in the area and 2 years experience within Child Protection, Education or DRR works
* Proven expertise on working children with a good skill on child-friendly facilitation and involving children in programming.
* Experience in implementing DRR program is preferred.
* Working experience with International NGO(s) and/or UN agency(ies).
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong understanding of Government structures and functions as well as general operations in Indonesia.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, pressured environment.
* Sound reasoning and decision making skills.
* Strong written and verbal English and Bahasa Indonesia.
* Detail oriented
