Yayasan Wisma Cheshire looking for National Coordinator

Yayasan Wisma Cheshire *(YWC)* is a member of the Leonard Cheshire Disablity Global Alliance (LCD) formerly known as Leonard Cheshire International, an NGO which supports and promotes  the rights of disabled people. *YWC* is registered as an Indonesian Yayasan or foundation. The Jakarta home was opened in November 1974  by the late Group Captain Leonard Cheshire, VC. Built on land donated by Rumah Sakit (Hospital) Fatmawati, funds from London, along with local donations, were used for the buildings. The home is situated south of the hospital and is managed by a committee of Indonesian and expatriate volunteers.
*YWC* planning to conduct a new project, this project will concentrate for young people with disabilities.  The project will promote self-advocacy by people with disabilities to improve access to their rights as enshrined in the UNCRPD and national disability legislation. Specific activities will be focused on the promotion and ratification and implementation of UNCRPD. We are currently seeking qualified Indonesian national for the post of* “ National Coordinator “ *

The National Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of activities within specific programs, ensuring that the program is well run, and of a high quality reflecting international best practice. The NC will work with other team member and supporting the Program Manager in the new project.

*Essential criteria:*
•    To facilitate the management and coordination of the Leonard Cheshire Disability Global Alliance Project, “Young Voices on the UN Convention”, to be implemented in Jakarta and in Banda Aceh Indonesia.
•    To establish and organize Young Voice Groups in Jakarta and Banda, and mobilize them to be an effective force for the promotion of human rights for people with disabilities at local and national level.
•    To support the capacity building processes of Young Voice members so as they will gain confidence and esteem resulting to responsible campaigning on UNCRPD and agent of changes.
•    To lead and direct Young Voice Groups  in establishing effective relationships with key duty bearers such as the National Council for Persons with Disabilities in Indonesia, and to participate to the re-drafting exercise of the National Plan of Action of Disabled People 2004 – 2013.
•    To lead and direct Young Voice Groups in mobilizing community awareness on Disability; organize community participation to campaign on meaningful implementation of UNCRPD in Indonesia.
Reporting:
The post holder will report to the Wisma Cheshire and work closely with the Regional Programme Manager of LCD in Bangkok and with and with the International Campaigns Co-ordinator, based at Leonard Cheshire Disability in London, UK.

*Duties and Responsibilities:*
•    Mobilize and organize active young people with disabilities into vibrant and functional Young Voices groups which meet regularly.
o    To support Wisma Cheshire in identifying young people with disabilities to be an active member of the Young Voice Indonesia.
o    Ensure that YV Indonesia meet the target population of 25 members per group; with adequate gender representation; diversity; meeting age requirement which is from 16 to 25 years old.
o    Ensure the organization of three YV Groups, (2) in Jakarta and (1) in Banda Aceh, Indonesia

•    Support the Young Voices groups to carry out campaigns on disability rights particularly on the UNCRPD, both at the local and at the National level.
•    Facilitate regular group meetings of the Young Voices and extend necessary technical as well as logistical support for smooth conduct of the meetings.
•    Provide training and capacity building inputs to the Young Voices groups and also arrange training by external persons.
•    Provide practical support and co-ordinate the production and dissemination of films and other material by young voice groups.
•    Support the Young Voices groups to develop relationships with Young Voices groups in other countries, Civil Society Organisations as well as with the Government to further their campaign objectives.
•    Track and ensure delivery of Project commitments, including regular narrative as well as financial reporting.
•    Any other reasonable duties including travel on request of the Yayasan Wisma Cheshire.

*Person Specifications:

Essential:*
•    A Degree in Social Sciences or any relevant discipline from a Recognised University/ College.
•    2 years of experience in implementing and reporting on development/ community based projects.
•    Must have basic computer skills, particularly the use of excel spreadsheet, word and Powerpoint. Comfortable in using email and Internet.
•    Good knowledge on issues of social exclusion, human rights and skills in campaigning and advocacy.
•    Passionate about working with young people with disabilities.
•    Strong team player with leadership and conflict management skills.

*Desirable:*
•    Knowledge of the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD)
•    Experience of working with youth groups or people with disabilities.
