Country Manager

GAIN is looking for a Country Manager to start, develop and lead its strategy and programming in one of GAIN’s key and most diverse and challenging countries in Asia, Indonesia. Working with public and private sector partners, non-governmental organizations and civil society organizations, GAIN is looking to create innovative and market-based sustainable models to improve the nutrition of populations at risk of malnutrition. This is initially a 6 month contract with a view to extending.
 
    Reporting to the Director of Program Delivery the manager is responsible for playing a key role in the development of GAIN’s country level nutrition strategy, and the identification of GAIN’s niche in country, building relationships with key stakeholders including within government institutions, the donor, academic and research communities, NGOs and the private sector.
    
    Responsible for Identifying concrete opportunities for GAIN’s engagement in country in this start up phase, in line with GAINs global strategy and comparative advantage.
    
    Responsible for GAIN’s in-country resource mobilization efforts
    
    Leads and manages all aspects of GAIN Indonesia’s Country Office, including defining office start up requirements, program and project implementation budget and staffing needs.
    
    When projects are underway, provides management and technical support for the development, planning, implementation, and monitoring and reporting of program activities, and monitoring of Executing Agencies with the support of GAIN technical staff.
    
    Represents GAIN’s interests at country level. Provide support to other Regions and Country Managers by participating in representation and advocacy initiatives within the region, as and when required.
    
    Contributes to the development of a knowledge base on GAIN’s portfolio, Indonesia specifically, and on national and regional trends in nutrition and related issues that might impact on GAIN programming
    
    Contributes expertise as required to teams created by GAIN to address specific issues at regional or global levels.
