IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building
of democratic societies. IFES promotes democratic stability by providing
technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral
cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and
strengthen civil societies, governance and transparency. Founded in 1987 as
a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented
comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 120 countries.
The Expert Group of the System Development Support Team is engaging a full
-time Editor/ Technical Writer to consolidate technical documents and
research materials in order to develop manuals & training materials for
election software applications developed by the Software Development Team
(SDT) & voter registration SoP’s developed by Voter Registration (VR)
Experts. Under the close guidance of the Expert Group and in close
coordination with the Graphic Designer, the Editor/ Technical Writer will
use their demonstrated ability to create comprehensive manuals & training
materials in Bahasa Indonesia from disparate sources which are easy to
understand by their intended users.
*Responsibilities of Editor/Analyst :*
· - Synthesize the ideas, proposals, and inputs from the Expert
Group into cohesive, concise manuals & training materials for distribution.
· - Ensure that different manuals & training materials prepared
include the same substantive content, are similar in tone, and are free of
contradictions.
· - Use source material to create tailored documents for specific
audiences.
· - Simplify complicated procedural language content to improve
readability.
· - Quickly conceptualize the overall system developed by the
Expert Group so that editorial choices are sensible and consistent with the
work of the Expert Group
The Editor/Technical Writer must have a demonstrated track record working
as an author or editor of comprehensive manuals & training materials in
Bahasa Indonesia (mandatory) and English (preferably), ideally with
assistance and development projects in Indonesia.
The Editor/Technical Writer will be engaged with the System Development
Support Team for an initial period for 3 (three) months with possible
renewal depending on funding. It is expected that the role will be
conducted on a full-time basis in the System Development Support Team’s
office in Jakarta.
