The
Organization
Search for
Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes
peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, DC, and a
European office in Brussels, Belgium, SFCG’s mission is to transform how
individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from
adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help
conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their
commonalities.
With a total
of approximately 400 staff worldwide, SFCG implements projects in 30 countries.
SFCG’s programs are in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, and the United
States.
The Partners in Humanity program works to
promote vibrant, constructive Muslim-Western relations. Our flagship project,
the Common Ground News Service (CGNews), seeks to promote mutual understanding
and offer hope, opportunities for dialogue and constructive suggestions that
facilitate peaceful resolution of conflict by publishing and promoting articles
by local and international experts in several languages.
Responsibilities
The Community Relations Coordinator/Bahasa
Indonesia Editor will be responsible for managing the social networking
presence of SFCG Indonesia and act as Bahasa Indonesia Editor for the Common
Ground News Service (www.cgnews.org) for
Muslim-Western understanding. The post responsibilities may include, but are
not limited to:
· Making regular Facebook (and other Social
Media) posts/tweets about SFCG programmes and related content
· Managing user interactions and feedback on
social media sites (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Linked-In)
· Managing social media campaigns and
day-to-day activities. Duties include online advocacy, writing editorial,
community-outreach efforts, promotions, etc.
· Editing the Bahasa Indonesia edition of the Common Ground News
Service for Muslim-Western understanding on a weekly basis
· Managing Indonesian translator(s) and back-up editors
· Commissioning articles from Indonesian civil society, government,
economists, academics, media and other writers
· Maintaining Indonesian media subscriber lists with an eye to
growing Indonesian subscribers
· Media outreach to Indonesian print and online outlets
· Website management and analytics, including
uploading new website content, and media monitoring
· Assisting programme staff to produce high quality audio and visual
content to be used on line (photos, video, audio recordings and graphic design
a plus)
· Maintaining lists of media and production professionals in
Indonesia
As job descriptions
cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other
duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
Minimum Requirements
· A university degree
and related experience in political science, conflict resolution, international
affairs, Islam, sociology or journalism.
· Passion
about communicating via social and traditional media
· Personal experience and in-depth knowledge and understanding of
social media platforms and their respective participants
· Demonstrated editing
experience, ideally for print or online media
· Proficiency with Hootsuite, Microsoft
Office, In Design, Adobe Sweat, Illustrator, PhotoShop, FinalCut
· Knowledge of blogging ecosystem in
Indonesia
· Solid computer skills: high proficiency using Microsoft Office
· Fluent in reading, writing and spoken Indonesian and English
(other regional languages an advantage)
· Excellent writing skills
· Experience
working with conventional media (print, broadcast), creative media (film
makers, djs, artists, designers, animators) and new media (bloggers, tweeters,
gamers).
· Strong project management or
organisational skills
· Ability to effectively communicate
information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain
relationships
· Team player, with the confidence to
take the lead and guide other departments when necessary
· Public relations, marketing, sales, community
management experience a plus
· Enormous attention to
detail
· Flexibility in daily
schedule to communicate with an international team of editors and contribute to
inflexible weekly deadlines
· Motivated and
energetic
· Experience working
with a multi-cultural team
