Vacancy Announcement: Forestry, Private Sector, Finance and Trade Advisor

Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the
Forestry, Private Sector, Finance and Trade Advisor (Jakarta based) on our
USAID Indonesia Forestry and Climate Support Project (USAID IFACS).

USAID IFACS seeks to reduce the threats of deforestation and climate change,
and help the Government of Indonesia (GOI) conserve the country's tropical
forests, wildlife, and ecosystem processes (including carbon sequestration).

JOB SUMMARY:

Lead efforts under the USAID IFACS project to support low carbon economic
development activities in target sites through sustainable natural
resource-based enterprises, sustainable agriculture, and appropriate
business development. Assist natural resource extraction firms to improve
practices to lower carbon emissions and impacts on biodiversity.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

1. Identify opportunities and constraints to adoption of specific
sustainable natural resource-based enterprises, sustainable agriculture, and
low carbon businesses in target sites.

2. Work with other members of the USAID IFACS team and well as partner
organizations and sub-contractors to provide technical support to
communities and small and medium sized enterprises in the areas of
production, management, value chain analysis, and marketing of sustainable,
low-carbon products.

3. Provide advice to local government to improve the business
environment for sustainable businesses.

4. Work with other members of the USAID IFACS team and partners to
assist target districts to develop and implement low emissions development
strategies (LEDS).

5. Coordinate assistance to extractive industries to improve their
practices to lower emissions and reduce impacts on biodiversity, in
accordance with funding restrictions.

6. Assist extractive industries to comply with GOI and international
legality and chain of custody requirements, in accordance with funding
restrictions.

7. Work with partners and short term consultants to identify and
secure financing for sustainable business and LEDS.

QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

1. A graduate degree in business, natural resource management, or
economics.

2. At least 15 years of small and medium sized enterprise development,
including work on natural resource based enterprises in developing
countries, with preference for Indonesia experience.

3. Proven experience in undertaking activities aimed at increased
political support and access to financial resources for community and
environmental improvement.

4. Demonstrated understanding of decentralized governance systems
including experience advising executive and legislative branches of local
government in budgeting, planning, management of services and/or policy
development, particularly with respect to forestry and climate change.

5. Native fluency in spoken and written Indonesian.

6. Professional competency in spoken and written English.

7. Ability to engage in activities occurring in multiple field sites
with multiple stakeholders across Indonesia.

8. Willingness to travel extensively in Indonesia.
