AMARTA II is
a USAID funded program that aims to improve the competitiveness of the value
chains of export and high-value agricultural commodities, including Coffee,
Cocoa and Horticultural crops through improving access to credit, information
and markets in these three sectors.
The project will work extensively with local
government, farmers groups, marketing companies, processors, input suppliers
and other stakeholders to increase the income of the whole sector and the
proportion of income retained by farmers.
Our project and offices are in Medan, Makassar,
Bandung, and our National Office is located in Jakarta.
We are currently seeking experienced professionals
to fill the Value Chain Leader for Horticulture based in Jakarta.
Value
Chain Leader for Horticulture. S/he will be responsible for the full
range of value chain development activities (production, post-harvest, value
addition, processing and marketing (domestic and export). S/he will be
responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training plans for
producers, supporting farmers’ groups/associations and regional agribusiness
associations and provincial level coordination. The Value Chain Leader for
Horticulture will have broad based experience in value chain development,
especially in production and post-harvest management and linking producers with
marketing chains.
Requirements: M.S. in Agriculture with 7 years of experience or B.S. in Agriculture with 10
years of experience working in the specialty area. Additional training in
post-harvest management and marketing is desirable. Demonstrated experience in
principal value chain activities, especially production and post-harvest
management, knowledge of productivity and quality improvement technologies and
developing and implementing farmer training programs is required; monitoring
technology adoption, productivity and quality improvement changes and output
marketing. Native (Bahasa) language skills required. One or more local
languages (Provincial level languages) and English language skills at level 4.
Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel,
Word, Outlook & Power Point, the internet including email and web browsing.
Initial
duration of assignment is 12 months, with the option to extend the duration of
up to four years total if performance targets are met.
