Summary

Responsibilities
The CM Community
Organizer’s(COCM) responsibility is to facilitate
village (coastal management) team and village government to have a plan and effectively
implement community based coastal management to increase community capacity
adaptation and mitigation on climate change effects. The role will be carried out by conducting community meetings, trainings, facilitatecommunity leadersto draft coastal management plan, supervise bamboo groynes & mangrove planting or other initiatives to
build village buffer zone and relevant actionsthat aligned with objectivesand overall goal of Bamboo project.

The overall goal of the Bamboo Project
is to increase adaptation capacity of Cemarajaya Village towards sea level rise
and tidal wave caused by climate change effects. The COCM’s role involves a
high degree of good communication skills to encourage community participation
in mapping their situation, participatory research and action. Bamboo COCM is
also responsible to providing regular report to ADRA Indonesia’ Project Coordinator
and suggesting creative and innovative approaches to make the program
effectively mobilize community’s resources and to ensure its sustainability.


Qualifications Required
·         Appreciative, honest, trustworthyand has high integrity; be self-motivated to use innovation and creativity.
·         Have good communication and interpersonal skills in order to maintain an
acceptable working relationship with formal and informal villages’ leader
·         Ability to establish and maintain
working relations in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect
for cultural diversity.
·         Bachelor degree (S1)in Geography, Environmental Engineering especially
coastal management, or other
relevant subject.
·         Familiar with coastal community and Participatory Research and Action isan advantage to effectively carry out the required duties.
·         Ability to work under pressure at times while maintaining high quality
results and team player incommunity mobilizing process.

Job Descriptions
The
Community Organizer for Coastal Managementwill undertake
design and implementation of coastal management with village team to
increase community capacity adaptation on climate change effects. S/Hewillencourage
community leaders to mapping community assets, hazards,
trends and facilitate village developplanningto
increase their adaptation and mitigation capacity. To monitor village CM team
and community mobilizers and to ensure good coordination
and communication with strategic stakeholder in find waysto increase community capacity adaptation. 

The
COCMis required to undertake the following
tasks:

1.       Design monthly planning and Implementing Bamboo project based
on the detailed implementation plan (DIP) to encourage community participation.
2.       Assisting community to develop basic map
using Global Positioning System (GPS)and maps that
identify hazardsof sea level rise, tidal wavesand sea temperature increasingparameter.
3.       Assisting village coastal management team in
designing their prefer future map, supervise the implementation and monitoring
evaluation
4.       Proposing ways of improvement of Bamboo Project
methodology, strategy and technical matter that adjusted to local context and
resources,
and possibilities to replicate the project to other regions.
5.       Preparing the monthly activity reports
and other reports as required to Project Coordinator
