Established in 1888
Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s longest established and
largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered Indonesia following the May 2006
earthquake and has established projects in emergency relief; reconstruction and
training; information and outreach; disaster preparedness and livelihoods
sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster risk reduction education and a
regional leader in providing innovative DRR services and solutions to people
with disabilities.

ASB is currently seeking
expressions of interest from qualified and committed individuals for the
following position:

Community Based Disaster Risk
Reduction- Team Leader, Mentawai, Indonesia

Location:Tua
Pejat, North Sipora Office and in-field Siberut, Mentawai
Duration: 9 months (including probation
period)

Summary of job
profile:
Oversee, manage, deliver
and document to high standards a community-based disaster risk reduction (DRR) pilot
project in partnership with the Federal German Foreign Office and in support of
the government of Indonesia’s ‘Resilient Village’ programme in Siberut,
Mentawai, West Sumatra. Ensure oversight, compliance and effective
participation of key government and community stakeholders and develop staff
capacity through formal and informal methods. To coordinate with ASB’s Monitoring
and Inclusion Coordinator and Training Coordinator to ensure quality and that all
project activities are meeting the needs of highly at-risk groups including
people with disability. The project includes strong training and capacity
building components.
 Key
requirements:
1.     Advanced degree in development studies,
disability studies, environmental studies or related field.
2.     Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
with a track record of successful donor-funded project delivery.
3.     Sound understanding of the ‘state of
play’ of DRR in Indonesia including gaps and constraints at the national, sub-national
and community levels.
4.     Ability to demonstrate a practical and
relevant approach to DRR.
5.     Familiarity with Indonesian Disaster
Management Policies, the Hyogo Framework for Action, the UN Convention on the
Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the emerging post-2015 agenda required.
6.     Familiarity with the drafting and
formalisation of DRR plans with particular reference to the Resilient Village
programme.
7.     Experience of working through inclusive
and participatory community-based approaches.
8.     Excellent training and capacity
building skills required.
9.     Proven project cycle and financial
management skills.
10.  Experience of working in remote areas preferred.
11.  Coaching, mentoring and team building skills required.
12.  A creative and practical approach to problem solving a
necessity.
13.  Good working ability in English and BahasaIndonesia required.
14.  Excellent communication and first-rate reporting skills.
