RE-ADVERTISE: Vacancy Announcement: Regional Communication Officer - Sarmi, Papua based

 Tetra Tech ARD is currently accepting expressions of interest for the
Regional Communication Officer - Sarmi, Papua based on our USAID Indonesia
Forestry and Climate Support Project (USAID IFACS).

USAID IFACS seeks to reduce the threats of deforestation and climate change,
and help the Government of Indonesia (GOI) conserve the country's tropical
forests, wildlife, and ecosystem processes (including carbon sequestration).

This project integrated outreach and communications strategy to stimulate
stakeholder awareness of and support for improved services and practices
necessary to achieve overall program goals and objectives. The strategy is
using baseline survey of knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) to provide
the baseline for developing campaigns, communication activities and allow
for measurement of progress over time also to verify project deliverable.

JOB SUMMARY:

S/he has to be a creative and enthusiast person which will responsible for
the overall implementation of USAID IFACS activities in her/his designated
region, including one or more landscapes, in the area of community
engagement and development in support other components of the project. S/he
will foster strong support to delivery USAID IFACS project vision,
communication strategy, ensuring the disseminate of consistence key message
to all target audience and managing media activity to increase the positive
opinion of the project to all of USAID IFACS partners, stakeholders and
beneficiaries. S/he will report to the Regional Manager and receive
technical advice from the Jakarta based Communication & Public Outreach
Specialist.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

1. Together with the Jakarta based Communication & Public Outreach
Specialist in developing media communications, messages and materials that
are appropriate for reaching community and local government audiences at
target sites;

2. Deliver and manage USAID IFACS communication materials and
activities (educational, outreach, campaigns, events, exhibitions etc.);

3. Support and provides capacity building for Multi Stakeholder Forum
to implement communication strategy and activities at designated landscape;

4. Assure cohesive and consistent communication and dialogue of USAID
IFACS visions with regional staff, communities and other key regional
stakeholders including GOI officials, NGOs, universities, private sector
players, and other donors.

QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):

1. University degree in relevant subject matter such as communication,
publication or public relation;

2. 4 years or more experience working in similar roles either for the
private sector, media outlet, NGO/INGO or donor projects background;

3. In depth knowledge of the assigned region/landscape;

4. Understanding of climate change issues is preferred;

5. Strong writing and communication skills;

6. Understanding of communication strategy development and
implementation is preferred;

7. Understanding or experience in journalism or community journalism
is preferred;

8. Understanding of media management and have strong media network at
the assigned landscape;

9. Native fluency in spoken and written Indonesian;

10. Professional competency in spoken and written English;

11. Enthusiastic, fast learner;

12. Strong coordination and team playing skills;

13. Strong written and verbal communications skills;

14. Ability to engage in activities occurring in multiple field sites with
multiple stakeholders across Indonesia;

15. Willingness to travel extensively in Indonesia.
