Report Editor (local hire) Term: short term, part time consultant (10 days)

IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building
of democratic societies*. **IFES promotes democratic stability by providing
technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral
cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and
strengthen civil societies, governance and transparency**.* Founded in 1987
as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and
implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than
120 countries.


Under the USAID funded project, the General Election Network for Disability
Access (AGENDA), the IFES-led consortium will seek to expand Indonesian
disabled people’s organizations’ (DPOs) regional leadership capabilities,
develop new tools and partnerships to monitor and raise awareness about
disability access issues in elections, and work to ensure that disability
rights are squarely on the ASEAN agenda. New and enhanced methodologies for
monitoring disability access will include regional indices and reports to
regional bodies, and Network findings will be shared with civil society
organizations in several ASEAN member states.

The General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA) completed
research to map the current situation related to election access for
persons with disabilities in Southeast Asia. AGENDA’s partners from
Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and
Thailand, submitted final reports on their findings which are combined into
one Regional report. The final regional report will be widely distributed
through the AGENDA network: the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human
Rights (AICHR), ASEAN Member States’ Governments, national human rights
institutions, USAID and other donors, United Nations, disabled people’s
organizations (DPOs), civil society organization (CSOs), The American
University Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP) network, and
other international and regional stakeholders.



AGENDA is seeking an Editor to edit the report for content and English
language: the editor is required to:

-      Conduct the preliminary edit of the regional report;

-      Conduct content editing relying on required knowledge of elections
and experience with reports discussing access for persons with disabilities

-      provide suggestion on the final report to improve content, language,
style, arguments, analysis and conclusion; and

-      provide substantial re-write for the Executive Summary and
Recommendation with consideration of the political language constraints.



Editor will deliver timely edits to the reviewed materials and work closely
with the AGENDA Project Manager to accomplish the above-mentioned tasks.



*Requirements: *

- Master Degree in International Affairs, Disability Studies, Political
Science or similar

- Native English speaker

- Available in Jakarta, Indonesia

- Previous experience editing similar reports

- Previous experience working in either Indonesia, The Philippines,
Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, or Thailand
