Established in 1888 Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is one of Germany’s
longest established and largest social welfare organisations. ASB entered
Indonesia following the May 2006 earthquake and has established projects in
emergency relief; reconstruction and training; information and outreach;
disaster preparedness and livelihoods sectors. ASB is a key player in disaster
risk reduction education and a regional leader in providing innovative DRR
services and solutions to people with disabilities.
ASB is currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and
committed individuals for the following position:
Project Research Assistant (entry level position)
Location:Yogyakarta, Indonesia (with travel to Central Java, West Java and the Mentawai
Islands)
Duration: 12 months initial contract
(including 3 month probation period)

Summary of job profile:
This
position is primarily to assist in organisation of project data and documents
including input, filing and analysis; and to prepare meetings (with
stakeholders) and trainings. The Project Assistant reports to the Team Leader
and is expected to coordinate closely with other project members. The position
includes both field and office work.
Desireable qualifications:
1. University
degree in statistics or social sciences. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
2. Proven
skill in using data storage and analysis software, especially: SPSS and
Microsoft Excel
3. Experience
in organising workshops, meetings or training at sub-national and/or national
level an advantage.
4. Knowledge
of action-research, or similar research methods, is preferable
5. Knowledge
on DRR an advantage.
6. A
sound awareness of disability and understanding of the principles of inclusion
required.
7. Excellent
communication skills.
8. Bahasa
Indonesia and English language skills.
9. Efficiency,
flexibility, respect for diversity, creative thinking, and punctuality valued.
