SCI seeks Sr. Program Officer - Aceh Program (code : SPO-AP) based in Bener Meriah

Save the Children is an international non-profit organization that focuses on the fulfillment of children’s right. Save the Children was first established in May 1919 in the U.K. and to date has 28 Save the Children Offices and operations in more than 120 countries worldwide. In 1976, Save the Children signed an MoU with the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, followed then by the operations of Save the Children throughout Indonesia. Currently, Save the Children work in 11 provinces with a variety of program areas, such as: Education, Health and Sanitation, Livelihood, Child Protection also Disaster Risk Reduction.




Save the Children currently implementing Livelihood and Improved Nutrition for Kids (LINK-2). The project goal is to improve the food security of small-scale coffee producing households in Bener Meriah, Aceh. This will be accomplished by achieving two results: Improved nutritional status of children aged 0-8 and Improved agricultural livelihoods. It will complement ongoing Save the Children health and nutrition, and humanitarian responses projects, build evidence, and leverage Government of Indonesia contributions.



LINK2 is a three-year project (1 April 2012 to 30 April 2015) funded by Coffee Company from America.



Now we are looking for a position of:



SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER – ACEH PROGRAM (code: SPO-AP), based in Bener Meriah



The Senior Program Officer LINK2 Project will be responsible for implementation of all activities in target areas in Bener Meriah, Aceh. S/he will be responsible for programmatic implementation and monitoring of all project activities, and the development of the project workplan.  S/he will ensure that all activities included in the implementation plan are implemented and outcomes are assessed.  S/he will report to the Program Manager, Supervise three Program Officers, one Program Assistant and be supported by a finance and administration, including logistic team in Bener Meriah. S/he is expected to work closely with Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in ensuring that all achievements and results of the project are well documented and reported according to the standard of Save the Children and the donor.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



·         Ensure LINK2 Project activities in Bener Meriah, Aceh are implemented according to the detailed implementation plan including leading the technical implementation of the project in the field.

·         With input from Senior Livelihood consultant, ensure high quality technical implementation of all project interventions according to global best practices, and lessons learned from SC programming in Indonesia and globally.

·         Ensure close collaboration with local stakeholders including establishing and developing strong and effective relationships with key district government officials and non-governmental stakeholders.  This will include collaborating with the local government on school selection, coordinating teacher training, reporting, and project public events such as results dissemination.  It will also include mobilizing communities in support of this project.

·         Together with Program Manager and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, he/she will provide preparation of the Mid-term evaluation and Endline Assessment of LINK2 project.

·         Together with the Program Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer and with assistance from other staff, develop an effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting system (including documenting activities) to ensure the effectiveness of project implementation.

·         Together with Program Officer and Admin and Logistic Officer ensure the procurement and delivery of all materials needed for activity both at school and in community is timely.

·         Together with Program Officer, monitor regular activities in communities.

·         Provide effective management and supervision of four staff members.

·         Together with Program Manager undertake advocacy activities in policy level and other advocacy activity  to ensure the sustainability of the project

·         Provide monthly report and monthly work plan, and submit to Program Manager



QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES

    Bachelors University Degree from Agriculture or equivalent in a relevant field
    At least 6 years work experience with non-government organizations, at least some experience in managing livelihood projects
    At least 4 years experience in education programs with international NGOs.
    Knowledge and skills in methods to promote improvements in livelihoods, particularly coffee supply chain and micro credit.
    Proven skills to develop an implementation plan and then efficiently implement activities
    Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English
    Proven ability to manage financial resources according to donor and organization regulations and reporting requirements
    Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural team
    Having experience working in remote area is preferable.
