GIZ Vacancy - Junior Finance/Accounting Professional

The Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations. GIZ is commissioned by Bundesministerium für Umwelt (BMU) to set up a Strategic Partnership for Supported NAMAs and Climate Finance which Support the Indonesia Climate Change Trust Fund  (ICCTF).  BMU-ICCTF project is looking for:


Junior Finance/Accounting Professional

A.      Responsibilities
The junior accounting/finance professional provides support in
§  dealing with all questions arising in this area
§  identifying relevant problems and issues and assisting in formulating implementation-oriented solutions
§  further developing instruments and assisting in introducing innovation and change
§  managing knowledge by disseminating and documenting know-how, experience and information
§  Cash/Bank Book of the project
§  Monthly Error Sheets


The accounting junior professional performs the following tasks:

B.       Tasks
1.        Managing the daily cash fund
The junior accounting/finance professional
§  is responsible for cash based on the vouchers/receipts collected daily
§  records daily transactions to the cash book and bank book
§  controls the remaining balance at the bank account
§  maintains the filing for financial records confidentially
§  prepares ADL and service request
§  calculates and verifies travel expenses on official journeys for project staff/consultant/counterpart (national, international)
§  cash management related to inflow and outflow of money from the bank, its administrative procedures, and reconciliation
§  updates and spreads information to the senior officer related to finance issues
§  monthly financial reporting, monitoring, and follow up issues settlement related to account payables and receivables
§  prepare, follow up, and monitor possible financial agreement and/or local subsidy with local partners
§  review the classification of all vouchers/receipts according to completeness and to cost centers/cost category/legal as sent by the projects and corrects them if required
§  follow up the monthly error sheets
§  prepares internal controls in accordance with GIZ’s internal control manual together with administrative manager.

2.        Internal control

§  is involved in drawing up the annual internal controlling schedule and reports

3.        General services
The junior accounting/finance professional
§  maintains an inventory for the office
§  bills/processes overtime applications from office and project/programme staff
§  processes settlement of applications for the reimbursement of travel expenses
§  draws up and updates the fee schedule for (national) individual appraisers

4.        Other duties/additional tasks
The junior accounting/finance professional
§  performs other duties and tasks at the request of management
§  Supports the administrative manager as requested and in line with workload of daily tasks


C.      Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
§  qualification in business administration with a focus on accounting or related area


Professional experience
§  initial experience (internship or similar) in this area

Other knowledge, additional competences
§  basic knowledge of accounting software
§  good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
§  good knowledge of the European language widely used in the country, ideally a knowledge of German
§  willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
