In November 22nd 2013, IDH The Sustainable Trade Initiative, PTPN III, RSPO
and Unilever signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly carry
out a program on the development of PTPN III independent smallholders to
increase their productivity, quality, financial access and to enable them
to produce traceable palm oil in a sustainable manner within the capacity
and authorities of the each party, starting from smallholders in supply
chain of Sei Mangkei palm oil mill. This MoU kickstarts IDH palm oil
program in North Sumatra.

The Project Manager will be based in Medan for a full period of the project
as early as in March 2013 until December 2016 and will preferably work as
an independent consultant. The main responsibilities are to manage the
project on the ground and to convene local partners. The Project Manager
will work closely with the mills which will implement the project. For the
first stage, the Project Manager will work closely with PTPN III and later
also with other mills that join the project. The Project Manager will
report to the IDH Program Manager.

The Project Manager is expected to meet the following requirements:

- Self motivated, proactive

- Result-oriented

- Significant working experience in relation to the palm oil sector,
with experience specifically in Indonesia as added advantage

- Knowledge of palm oil as a crop (agronomic, the value chain,
certification systems, etc) and its issue on sustainability, especially
with the smallholders

- Has the ability to work as a team, great interpersonal skill and to
deliver in local & international setting

- Willingness to travel and to work from the field for most duration of
the program

- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
