Position / Job Title: Disaster Management Manager

Report to: Disaster Management Program Coordinator
The American Red
Cross (Amcross) helps
vulnerable people around the world to prevent, prepare for and respond to
disasters, complex humanitarian emergencies and life-threatening health
conditions. It is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies (IFRC) and works closely with Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI).
Currently the Amcross has programs in
Aceh, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Bali and NTB (Lombok). The Amcross Program works with
the Indonesia Red Cross (PMI) focuses on four main program areas: Disaster
Management, Health, Organizational Development and Water & Sanitation.
The Disaster Management Program Manager
is needed to manage the implementation of Disaster Management projects of American Red Cross in Indonesia.
This position is based in Jakarta and reports directly to Disaster Management Program Coordinator
Job Purpose
To provide
technical assistance and managerial support and inputs to ARC Disaster
Management Program in Indonesia
Job duties and
responsibilities
1. Provide support coordinator in the
management and implementation of Amcross DM program (Coastal DRR, Jabodetabek -
Greater Jakarta, and Wonogiri)
2. Responsible as PIC for Coastal DRR
project (QA/QC, internal and external Coordination, liaise with PMI, PMER,
financial management)
3. Undertake tasks and small projects
as assigned by the Country Representative or Program coordinator when required
4. Prepare to assume management role
in disaster response, in close coordination with PMI related to DM activities
that AmCross is supporting
5. Provide input on relevant project
report (Monthly, Quarterly) and submit to DM program Coordinator and ME&R
manager in timely manner.
6. Conduct Field visit on project
implementation monitoring and quality assurance on regular basis
7. Provide input to program
coordinator regarding achievement of targets and required modification of
program objectives
8. Assist Program coordinator in the
identification and development of new projects activities in cooperation with
PMI colleagues.
9. Provide support to Program
coordinator in the preparation of required documentation or study needed for
concept papers and/or proposals.
10. Complete tasks and small projects
as assigned by the Country Representative or Program Coordinator
11. Accommodate cross cutting issues
(Accountability to beneficiaries, gender and environmental sustainability) in
the project implementation
12. Provide inputs to PMI on DM tools
and guideline development/improvement
13. Prepare program documentation,
assessments and required studies on timely manner
14. Attend meetings, workshops and/or
training programs as required. Present program ideas and carry out discussions
on behalf of Amcross when
required
15. Actively interface with other Amcross projects to try
and create synergy of impact. One related project that will have obvious
potential to interact with the DM sector is new Corporate volunteers project.
Support the development of program opportunities, tasks and/other uses of
corporate volunteers within DM sector. Interact with corporate members of
KADIN/AMCHAM to identify, with PMI productive uses for volunteers to support DM
related activities , systems or other program initiatives.
Position
requirements
1. Education
- Bachelor degree in social science
or relevant background -
required
- Master Degree in social science or
relevant background -
preferred
2. Experience
- At least 6 years experiences in Disaster Management Field
- 3 years minimum in project management and development
- Experienced working with Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
- Experience in developing resources mobilisation strategy
- 2-3 years experience in International Development or Relief or
related profesional experience at a similar capacity
3. Knowledge and
skills
- Understanding on Disaster Management related policies and practise
in Indonesia
- Daily use of Microsoft office software
4. Languages
- Fluently spoken and written English
- Good command of another IFRC
official language (French, Spanish or Arabic)

- Able to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through
collaboration
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, with good judgment and iniatitive
