The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) is a nonprofit, global research organization dedicated to advancing human well-being, environmental conservation and equity.
 
We conduct research that enables more informed and equitable decision making about the use and management of tropical and sub-tropical forest landscapes. We help policy makers and practitioners shape effective policy, improve the management of tropical forests and address the needs and perspectives of people who depend on forests for their livelihoods. Our multidisciplinary approach considers the underlying drivers of deforestation and degradation which often lie outside the forestry sector: forces such as agriculture, infrastructure development, trade and investment policies and law enforcement.

Project Administrator
 
Summary of responsibilities
General and project administrative tasks for Research Livelihoods portfolio with a successful and effective provision of assistance within:
 
  • Project administrative tasks
  • Monitoring and tracking
  • Communication with stakeholders
 
  • General administrative tasks, including travel and workshop logistics planning and reporting,
  • Project administrative tasks relate mainly to communication and coordination with project management unit, finance, HR, LIV, partners and donors on a range of tasks (contracting, deliverables tracking, payments, budget development, impact pathway documentation)
  • Ensuring that project financial obligations are met, in accordance with existing procedures
  • Collect information required for proposals, presentations and reports to donors and produce drafts for the project managers to be revised and finalised.
  • Provides answers on basic project information to stakeholders, and to disseminate project literatures (info briefs, publication, etc.); Follows standard procedures when responding to basic telephone, written and electronic requests for information;
  • Maintain project documentation and be able to create draft activity reports based on templates, project documents, trip reports and other research reports.
 
Requirements
Education, knowledge and experience
  • Have at least a B.Sc., preferably an M.Sc. in a public administration, accounting or project management type degree
  • Excellent English writing skills as would be expected to interface directly with partners and donors
  • Strong computer skills
  • Five years of relevant experience: working in an I/NGO, development agency in developing country settings

  • Competent in personal organization and priority setting, with the ability to work effectively under time pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Have initiative and capable of working independently as well as an effective team player.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with people in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment.
  • Values the sharing of information and continuous improvement in a cooperative atmosphere of constructive evaluation and learning.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and aware of other cultural communication contexts
 
Terms and Conditions
  • This is a Consultancy position. CIFOR offers competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The appointment is for 1 (one) year with a possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
  • The duty station will be at CIFOR HQ in Bogor, Indonesia
