SECTOR COORDINATOR (up to 7 positions)

 

Background:

The Australia Indonesia Partnership for Promoting Rural Income through Support for Markets in Agriculture (AIP-PRISMA) is an ambitious new rural development program which aims to contribute to a 30%, or more, increase in net incomes for 1,000,000 poor rural female and male farmers, 300,000 of which will be reached by June 2017.

The Position

As a Sector Coordinator, you will be responsible for up to three commodities selected from the wide range of agricultural sectors promoted under the Program. Together with your Intervention Coordinators, you will conduct analyses the value chains of these commodities in specific provinces; develop a set of strategies to introduce innovations and business models to increase their competitiveness of the value chains; negotiate and conclude deals with agribusinesses and other enterprises to introduce the innovation/business models; oversee the implementation of these strategies; and monitor the progress and adjust your strategies until you succeed to transform your commodity value chain in a more competitive one.

To be able to do this, you should meet several of the following criteria:

·             a post-graduate level qualifications or higher in economics, business administration, marketing or similar discipline;

·             a sound understanding of business and economics;

·             a strong analytical mind and a flair for numbers;

·             demonstrated negotiation skills;

·             strong interpersonal and management talent;

·             willingness to learn from mistakes and ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;

·             a good understanding of the role public services play for economic performance;

·             fluency in in English and Bahasa Indonesia.

·             Proven work experience in supply chain management, business consulting, management, finance, marketing or agribusiness is of advantage. Direct experience in development is not required.
