Cardno vacancy : PD Level 3 - Senior Engineer Indonesia

Primary Objectives:

Reporting to the Head of Private Sector Engagement and Deputy Head of Office, the primary objectives of this role are:

• To provide accurate and efficient engineering design services for the Consulting Business Unit based in Jakarta, in accordance with project times and budgets and with minimal supervision.
• To undertake project management roles and coordinate project teams to achieve client outcomes in line with project specifications.
• To promote the range of engineering and consulting services Cardno offers to the Indonesian market place and to provide analysis on which of Cardno services is most relevant to various markets in Indonesia.
• To provide high quality input in the continuing development of the Consulting Business Unit’s Strategic Business Plan.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

• Key responsibilities of the position include:

Performance

(technical)

• Develop complex designs within time and budget restraints
• Complete complex design calculations and records
• Conduct site inspections and reviews
• Prepare work plan and resource schedule for projects
• Negotiate with clients to affect amendments to project scope, budget and time
• Undertake independent studies and analyses to form conclusions, and where appropriate, recommend modifications to established guides and devise new approaches
• Provide technical inputs into feasibility studies and allocated projects, including complex technical applications
• Develop practical and commercial solutions to problems and take necessary action to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects
• Make independent decisions on conventional work methods and procedures

People

• Provide support to PT Cardno Indonesia staff in developing networks and client marketing programs to promote Cardno’s infrastructure consulting expertise.
• Lead, guide and supervise project teams and identify opportunities to develop junior staff
• Provide technical advice to and co-ordinate inputs of graduate and project engineers
• Plan project resource needs in consultation with the Project Manager
• Undertake work related training and demonstrate a willingness to pursue self-development for career advancement

Clients

• Through targeted Business Development activities, develop a new client base for PT Cardno Indonesia in the infrastructure consulting sector. For the first 6-12 months finding and winning new work will be the primary focus of this position.
• Act as specialist expert for delegated clients.
• Deliver project outcomes within client specifications and expectations
• Direct and control specific project phases for nominated clients and ensure work output is of a technically high standard and activities are profitable
• Provide Project Management services to support projects in the infrastructure area, whether funded by the Private Sector or Donors.

Growth

·         Represent and promote Cardno at seminars, conferences and networking events

·         Through Business Development activities contribute to the attainment of PT Cardno Indonesia’s Key Performance Indicators in terms of growth and profitability.

·         Develop and implement marketing action plans to delegated clients

·         Participate in the business units marketing and promotional activities

·         Identify new project opportunities and clients, and maintain existing opportunities and clients

·         Assist with the implementation of the business unit’s approved Business Plan

·         Prepare and process tender documentation including Bill of Quantities and Schedule of Rates

Quality

·         Monitor progress of individual work and project team work to ensure compliance with program and budget

·         Review project team work for technical accuracy and adequacy

·         Assist project managers to provide management, budget control and resource planning on major projects

·         Adhere to the quality system requirements of the project as defined in the Project Quality Plan including verification of product produced by other engineers, draftspersons or from external sources

·         Comply with the company’s Quality Management system and provide feedback and recommendations where the system may need modification

·         Ensure Cardno’s International Operating Standards including its policy on Zero tolerance of fraud and bribery is well known and understood by prospective partners and clients.

·         Adhere to the responsibilities as required by relevant Workplace Health & Safety legislation and internal Cardno Policies

Qualifications:

·         Appropriate tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline with high-level relevant experience in design; construction supervision and administration; project management; and report writing.

·         Eligible for membership of a relevant Indonesian Engineering Institute.

Discipline areas considered desirable for this position:

·         Traffic and Transport, Roads and Bridges, Mine infrastructure and planning, Urban, Coastal and Tourism Planning, Water and Sanitation, Ports and Marine

Quality Management System (QMS):

·         To follow Quality Assurance procedures and where possible recommend improvements to the Cardno Quality Management System (QMS)

Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

Knowledge

·         Demonstrated knowledge of business development processes within the infrastructure consulting sector in Indonesia

·         Comprehensive understanding of relevant government departments and major private sector firms in the infrastructure consulting field and the tender processes they use.

·         High-level knowledge, understanding and application of engineering concepts, processes and activities

·         High-level knowledge of Engineering drawing techniques

·         Thorough knowledge, or ability to gain thorough knowledge, of relevant design standards, legislation and Indonesian Construction Standards

 

Skills

·         Demonstrated capacity to find and attain new clients in the infrastructure consulting business

·         Demonstrated advanced skills in relevant design software

·         Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, Power Point and Project

·         Strong interpersonal and influencing skills

·         Ability to identify new clients and to develop long-term relationships with them

·         Ability to develop detailed client tracking information which will assist Cardno to develop a thorough understanding of new infrastructure consulting sectors.
