Background:
The
Australia Indonesia Partnership for Promoting Rural Income through Support for
Markets in Agriculture (AIP-PRISMA) is an ambitious new rural development
program which aims to contribute to a 30%, or more, increase in net incomes for
1,000,000 poor rural female and male farmers, 300,000 of which will be reached
by June 2017.
Sector Coordinators (up to 7 positions)
As a Sector Coordinator, you will be responsible for up to three commodities
selected from the wide range of agricultural sectors promoted under the
Program. Together with your Intervention Coordinators, you will conduct analyses
the value chains of these commodities in specific provinces; develop a set of strategies
to introduce innovations and business models to increase their competitiveness
of the value chains; negotiate and conclude deals with agribusinesses and other
enterprises to introduce the innovation/business models; oversee the implementation
of these strategies; and monitor the progress and adjust your strategies until
you succeed to transform your commodity value chain in a more competitive one.
To be able to do this, you should meet several of the following
criteria:
·
a post-graduate level
qualifications or higher in economics, business administration, marketing or
similar discipline;
·
a sound understanding
of business and economics;
·
a strong analytical mind
and a flair for numbers;
·
demonstrated
negotiation skills;
·
strong interpersonal
and management talent;
·
willingness to learn
from mistakes and ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;
·
a good understanding
of the role public services play for economic performance;
·
fluency in in English
and Bahasa Indonesia.
·
Proven work experience
in supply chain management, business consulting, management, finance, marketing
or agribusiness is of advantage. Direct experience in development is not
required.
Intervention Coordinators (up to 15 positions)
As an Intervention Coordinator, you will report to a Sector Coordinator
or Business Enabling Environment (BEE) Coordinator and be responsible for up to
three interventions in one or more commodity value chains. For this, together
with your Sector or BEE Coordinator, you will analyse the values chains
assigned to your Sector or BEE Coordinator; identify constraints and develop innovations
(technical and other solutions) to overcome the constraints; develop business
models for these innovations; and collaborate with agribusinesses, other enterprises or
government to introduce these innovations in the market. For these partners,
you will be the key point of contact and become a valuable business consultant.
To be able to do this, you should meet several of the following
criteria:

at least graduate
level qualifications in economics, business administration, marketing or
similar discipline;
·
understanding of and
interest in how markets work;
·
a strong analytical
mind and a flair for numbers;
·
ability and
experience of developing business plans;
·
willingness to learn
from mistakes and ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;
·
strong interpersonal skills
to be able to work with partners; and
·
fluency in in English
and Bahasa Indonesia.
·
Proven work
experience is of great advantage and willingness to travel frequently a must. Direct
experience in development is not required.
Result Measurement Coordinators (up to 3 positions)
As a Results Measurement Coordinator, you will closely collaborate with
Sector and Intervention Coordinators. You will guide them in scrutinizing, analysing
and improving their strategies. For this you will support the sector team in articulating
causal models and respective indicators for measurement; identifying, quantifying
and verifying milestones and targets; developing monitoring plans; designing
surveys; collecting data; and analysing the result, to enhance appropriate
decision making strategy adjustment.
To perform this role, you should have several of the following
qualifications:
·
at least graduate
level qualifications in economics,
business administration, mathematics or similar discipline;
·
experiences in
designing and conducting qualitative and quantitative research;
·
strong analytical
skills;
·
experience in working
with statistical software like SPSS, PSPP or others and proficiency in using
Excel;
·
willingness to learn
from mistakes and ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;
·
good communicator and
team worker;
·
experience with
mobile data collection;
·
fluency in English
and Bahasa Indonesia.
·
Working experience in
a private or public research institute or in a development project following
the principles of the DCED Standard for Results Measurement are of strong
advantage and willingness to travel frequently a must.
Provincial Manager - West Papua (1 position)
Reporting to the Head of Business Enabling Environment, you will ensure
the buy-in from the local and provincial governments in your province; manage
the relationship of our program with all public stakeholders; understand and support the implementation of
all program interventions in West Papua; collaborate with the sector teams to
ensure a successful implementation of their strategies; support the results measurement
team in quantitative and qualitative data collection; and contribute to
strategy development and adjustment.
To perform this role, you should have several of the following
qualifications:
·
a background in
economics, public law, public administration, or political science;
·
a good understanding
of area competitiveness and economics and the drivers of change;
·
a good understanding
of the political economy in West Papua;
·
experience working
with local government, preferably in West Papua;
·
existing network
among public and private stakeholders in West Papua;
·
willingness to learn
from mistakes and ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;
·
willingness to live
in West Papua;
·
fluency in English
and Bahasa Indonesia.
·
Direct experience in
development is not required.
Business Enabling Environment (BEE) Coordinators (1 position)
As a BEE Coordinator, you will manage selected strategies targeting the
improvement of the legal, policy, and planning environment relevant for the
program’s sectors. For this you will collaborate with the sector teams in
analysing value chains, their performance and constraints; and their political
economy. Together with your Intervention Coordinators, you will develop a set
of strategies to introduce cleverer policies and public services; you will
negotiate and conclude deals with local government and collaborate with private
companies to strengthen their role in policy development; and oversee the
implementation of these strategies; and you will monitor the progress and
success of failure and adjust your strategies until you succeed to create a
more conducive environment for the enterprises and farmers.
To perform this role, you should have several of the following
qualifications:
·
at least post-graduate
level qualifications in economics, business administration, public law, public
administration, political science or similar;
• a good understanding of area
competitiveness and economics and the drivers of change;
• a good understanding of the political
economy eastern Indonesia;
• a good understanding of the role public
services play for economic performance;
• experience working with local
government and private companies;
• willingness to learn from mistakes and
ability to think ‘out-of-the-box’;
• fluency in English, Bahasa Indonesia
and preferably local language.
·
Proven work
experience in public policy, business consulting, agribusiness is of advantage.
Direct experience in development is not required.
