Founded by President K.H. Abdurrahman Wahid on 7 September 2004. The Wahid Institute strives for a just and peaceful world and has become one of the leading voices espousing moderate and tolerant views of Islam in Southeast Asia.

VISI 

The Wahid Institute seeks to achieve the intellectual vision of H.E. Abdurrahman Wahid for the development of Indonesia, the welfare of the nation, and the social justice of humankind based on peaceful Islamic values that upholds pluralism, multiculturalism, democracy, and human rights.

The Wahid Institute strives for a just and peaceful world by espousing a moderate and tolerant view of Islam and working towards welfare for all.

 

MISI

1.       Cultivating, maintaining and spreading the Islamic values of peace and tolerance.

2.       Cultivating dialogues among local and international cultures to expand harmony between Islam and various cultures and religions of the world.

3.       Fostering initiatives to strengthen civil society and good governance in Indonesia in expanding democracy

4.       Promoting active participations of various religious groups in cultural dialogues and dialogues for peace

5.       Developing initiatives to improve welfare and social justice.

 

Currently, we are looking for professional candidates to fill in positions below:

 

1.       Executive Director (ED) 1 position.

2.       Media and Outreach Officer (MOO) 1 position.

 

Position Descriptions:

 

1.       Executive Director (ED)

 

The Executive Director will be responsible for managing an effective and efficient operations and program division of The Wahid Institute.

Qualification:

·         Bachelor or Master Degree in Economics, Management, Law or equivalent professional work experience.

·         Further studies or qualifications in pluralism, peace and conflict are desirable.

Experience:

·         Having extended experiences on program design.

·         Minimum 10 years experiences at managerial level in NGO or private sector.

Knowledge:

·         Knowledge on pluralism, peace and conflict and tolerance issues in Indonesia.

·         Knowledge of Government of Indonesia labour law.

·         Knowledge on program budgeting.

·         High level of competency using Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.

·         Excellent English proficiency in both written and spoken English.

·         Arabic language ability is preferable.

2.       Media and Outreach Officer (MOO)

The Media and Outreach Officer will be responsible for managing The Wahid Institute’s various media campaign and reaching out all organisation stakeholders.

Qualification:

·         Bachelor degree in Communications or equivalent professional work experience.

·         Further studies or qualifications in pluralism, peace and conflict are desirable.

Experience:

·         Five years experiences in related field.

·         Extensive experiences of media design.

·         Extensive experiences on mainstreaming an idea through social media.

Knowledge:

·         Knowledge on pluralism, peace and conflict and tolerance issues in Indonesia.

·         Knowledge of the Wahid Institute’s vision and mission.
