Job Vacancy as consultant at TNC IMP: GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist in Kupang


The Nature Conservancy – Indonesia Marine Program is searching qualified candidate to fill position of:
GIS and Remote Sensing Specialist as consultant for 12 month contract.


The Nature Conservancy Indonesia Marine Program (TNC-IMP) has been pioneering Marine Protected Area (MPA) management in Indonesia since 1996. Its primary goal is to preserve biodiversity of coral reefs and associated ecosystem as well as ecosystem services they provide through the establishment and strengthening of resilient network of MPA within the Coral Triangle.

As a GIS and remote sensing specialist, the contractor will carry out the following functions :
- The contractor will digitize, process, analyze, produces, manages, and maintains GIS and remote sensing data and information (i.e. make attribute table, layout maps, geodatabase, satellite imagery analysis and associated reports) to provide technical support for areas where TNC-IMP are actively working.
- Contractor will work under the supervision of the Conservation Coordinator and Marine Spatial Planning Coordinator.

The assignment will be based in TNC Kupang Field Office in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara Timur, Indonesia. The assignment is for 12 month, counting from the first day the contract is signed for this work, ideally will take place from January to December 2015.

The deliverables from the contractor are:
a. Spatial Analysis of zoning plan, thematic maps, resource package maps for RZWP3K Rote Ndao District is fine-tuned and produced
b. Spatial Analysis of zoning plan, thematic maps, resource package maps for RZWP3K East Nusa Tenggara Province is fine-tuned and produced
c. Spatial Analysis of zoning plan and thematic maps for Lesser Sunda is fine-tuned and produced
d. Provide technical support on GIS and Remote Sensing for areas where TNC-IMP are actively working

Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Marine/ Geography/ Geographic Information System with working experience in relevant field of expertise 2 or more years.
- Has experience analyzing and processing GIS and satellite imagery for coastal and marine ecosystems.
- Expertise in using digital image processing software and ArcGIS to support processing and analysis. The softwares will provided by TNC.
- Mastering the concepts and methods of ground truthing.
- Working knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s).
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and communicating results to conservation practitioners/managers.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with other parties to obtain different data sources.
- Good communications, written and spoken in English is preferable
- Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities, and willingness to work overtime, when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver on time.
