SCI seeks Project Officer - Education based in Bandung



Save the Children is an international NGO and the world’s top independent charity for children in need. Since 1919, we have been fighting for children’s rights, saving their lives and providing hope for brighter futures worldwide.  In Indonesia, Save the Children currently works in eleven provinces, has staff of approximately 190 local professionals, and programming in Child Protection, Education, Health and Nutrition, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Humanitarian Response.  Save the Children in Indonesia is seeking to fill the following position:



Project Officer - Education
1 position, based in Bandung


Role Purpose:
  • S/he will responsible for building the capacities of target schools, in coordination with local MONE (sub-district and district/municipal level) and resource centers, providing technical assistance, to ensure high quality teaching and learning in relate to Inclusive Education (IE) context.
  • S/he will liaise, responsible to maintain good relationship to all key stakeholders and act as the focal person to the IKEA Project in his/her designated areas/districts.
  • S/he will contribute to technical development of training materials within consultation with Project Manager (PM), Service Coordinator and Senior Project Officer, and responsible for monitoring of implementation quality, involving children and community members.

Reports to: Senior Project Officer (SPO)
Dimensions:
  1. Contribute in the set up and develop of program tactics and techniques for monthly, quarterly and annually, collaboration with other personnel’s in the team.
  2. Plan and carry out the IKEA project activities against operating plans as timely manner and  based on day-by-day operational activities. Ensure close collaboration with PM, Service Coordinator, Senior Project Officer, ME Officer, other Project Officers and support them with providing inputs, technical assistance, Training of Trainer and serial trainings, mentoring and other activities for the development of IKEA program.
  3. Ensure all school staff, student and parent received adequate information on inclusive education (IE); include IE perspective, teaching and learning, child friendly school, community support , barrier reduction, etc; through regular meeting, events and social campaign
  4. In collaboration with other PO, assist target schools to synchronize program implementation gaps into school individual plan and monitor its implementation  e.g. teacher training, regular coaching by assigned Resource Center, children and parent support, community participation, school district/municipal meeting, etc  
  5. Identify and connect beneficial resources to improve school services in accommodating CWD e.g. Resource Centre/Special needs school, Community Based Rehabilitation, Disabled People Organization and other relevant local Civil Society Organizations   
  6. Promote a number of model schools; for example school with well performed teaching style and class management, child friendly school realization, facilitation of parent and community support in and outside school setting 
  7. Under the lead of SPO, coordinate all M&E activities within his/her jurisdiction including supports data collection both quantitative and qualitative in close collaboration and coordination with M&E Officer.
  8. Ensure close collaboration with local stakeholders including establishing and developing strong and effective relationships with key district government officials and non-governmental stakeholders and in implementation of all project activities.
  9. Support SPO with relevant data and information for drafting monthly, quarterly and annual reports as per donor and Save the Children requirements.

     KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
  1. The objectives of project implementation are met as schedule and expected standard as well as completed evidence based of outputs.
  2. Roles of PO in coordination and facilitation are received well by all target community stakeholders and organization and helped them in implementation and accomplishment of the project activities.
  3. All information of project activities are collected recorded and updated periodically through ME tools and being basis for analysis against KPI achievement.
  4. Partnership with individual, institutional and community are developed and maintained with respect each other and focused to the best interest of children.
  5. Working relationship with other staff under IKEA staff goes well, effective and smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Minimum S1 on Special Education, Community Education, Community Health, Social Work or equivalent in relevant fields.
  2. Minimum 3 years working experience with Government and non-Government organizations in the area of health, education, children with disabilities and/or child protection
  3. Proven skills on teacher capacity building, preferably on managing classroom with CWD at mainstream school setting (not special needs school setting)
  4. Have experiences work in West Java (desirable).
  5. Have experiences work in disability issues especially for CWDs (advantage).
  6. Home based at West Java province (strong advantage)
  7. Excellent communication skills.
  8. Knowledge and skills in health, education and child protection at community level, particularly related to the needs of CWDs.
  9. Good facilitation and community development skills.
  10. Proven ability to work in multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
  11. Demonstrate ability to implement Monitoring and Evaluation activities.
  12. Strong working relationship with government, community and other partners.
  13. Proven experiences in working with children (working with children with disabilities will be advantage).
  14. Excellent in social and in interpersonal skills.
  15. Proven ability to work effectively within set time frames and with demonstrated impact.
  16. Proven and demonstrated writing and presentation skills in Bahasa Indonesia and good skills in English.
  17. Proven experience of working closely within team.
  18. Proven ability to work in remote areas and flexibility for extended periods of time
  19. Good interpersonal and communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and local language (if necessary).
