World
Neighbors (WN) is an International non-governmental, non-profit
development agency (NGO), working in Oecusse Region, Timor-Leste, to
inspire people and strengthen communities to find lasting solutions to
hunger, poverty and disease, and promote a healthy environment.
WN
is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position of Finance
and Administration Assistant. Under the direction of the SE Asia
Finance Associate, the Finance and Administration Assistant will manage
all in-country financial transactions undertaken by the Timor-Leste
Country Office, and ensure they align with World Neighbors’ and donor’s
financial policies and procedures. He/she will assist in overseeing
compliance of partner’s reporting and financial management; assist in
identifying and following up on partner’s capacity needs, and other
finance and administrative tasks as assigned.
Summary of Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain
and monitor overall financial integrity, cost effectiveness and cost
efficiency in organizational financial planning, procedures and
practices.
Maintain both the computerized and manual/hardcopies of World Neighbors financial records.
Assist the SE Asia Finance Associate in consolidating the books of accounts.
File and maintain all receipts, and partner budgets, proposals and financial reports.
Prepare financial data from QuickBooks.
Assist the SE Asia Finance Associate in the preparation of bank reconciliations.
Assist the SE Asia Finance Associate in preparing WN and donor financial reports.
Manage petty cash.
Maintain an inventory of all WN assets together with their costing, depreciation and related insurance information.
Receive
and check all financial reports (income, expenditure, balance) from
partners to monitor compliance with budgetary norms.
Assist the Organizational Development Officer in training/mentoring the partners to address their capacity-building needs.
All office administration tasks.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor degree (S1) in accountancy or another relevant discipline.
Minimum of five years’ experience as an accountant/bookkeeper.
Hands-on experience keeping accounting journals and making journal entries.
Proficiency in accounting software.
Proficiency in MS Office software including Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to use bookkeeping and accounting software programs preferred.
English and Tetum language proficiency
Preferred
Prior experience working in development (NGOs or UN).
Proficiency in Quickbooks accounting software.
Experience working on USAID-funded programs.
Knowledge and experience of Oecusse Region.
Baikeno language proficiency.
