Chemonics International Inc. seeks a Success Story Writer for the USAID-funded Indonesia Marine and Climate Support (IMACS) Project. The goal of the IMACS Project is to contribute to the sustainable management of Indonesia's marine and coastal ecosystems through support to the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF). The IMACS Project is now in its fifth and final year, and is seeking a short-term, Success Story Writer. The position will have primary responsibility for capturing the IMACS Project’s achievements, successes, and impact over the life of the project in the form of success stories (in both English and Bahasa Indonesia). Success stories will be written according to the guidance, rules, and methodology as prescribed by USAID (see http://www.usaid.gov/results-data/success-stories for examples).

The Success Story Writer will liaise with the full-time in-house IMACS Communications Specialist, who will ensure the writer receives appropriate templates and branding guidance. IMACS can provide support from a part-time specialist available to assist with polishing and proofreading English materials if required.

This position is based in Jakarta, beginning on/around June 8, through September 18, 2015, for up to 25 days level of effort (LOE). A five-day workweek is authorized

Responsibilities

Specific tasks and responsibilities of the position include:

  • Write one-pager success stories (in Bahasa Indonesia and English) capturing IMACS achievements and impact from 2010 to present.
  • Assist in selection of photos from IMACS photo library to be inserted into the one-pager success stories.
  • Liaise with the IMACS Communications Specialist--and Task Leaders, field operations staff, and other project staff as needed to capture data and results to be incorporated into the stories.
  • Write other success stories products as required by the IMACS Chief of Party or his/her designee.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Development Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in the communications field.
  • Previous experience writing success stories for USAID-funded projects required.
  • Professional writing (writing, editing, proofreading) experience in English and Bahasa Indonesia required.
  • Good interpersonal and creative thinking skills.
  • Native Bahasa Indonesia reading/writing skills required.
  • Advanced English reading/writing skills required
