Translation Service for BMP Rubber Training Modules

development. SNV works in partnership with Government and industry across
three main sectors in Indonesia, water and sanitation, renewable energy and
agriculture as well as the crosscutting issue of climate change. This
position will be part of Commodities and Climate Change team.

Terms of Reference: Translation Service for BMP Rubber Training Modules

Background

SNV Indonesia believes that despite the current challenges of rubber
industry in Indonesia, it remains one of district's key economic products.
The problems that occurred is rubber poor productivity and market barriers
such as lack of producer linkage to buyers, price volatility and farmer
organisation. Capacity development is identify as one of the key points to
tackle those problems. Furthermore, in a partnership between Conservation
International (CI) and SNV have set as an objective to develop Better
Management Practices (BMP) for Rubber Smallholders. SNV Indonesia will also
develop a training program to assist rubber farmers implementing improved
management and increasing production while mitigating the environmental
impact. The training program will focus on Training of Trainers methods.

Objective & Activities

The objective of the translator itself is to translate all the materials
related to BMP for Rubber Smallholders Training program.

The Translator need to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency in project
translations, particularly for rubber production terminologies between
English and Bahasa Indonesia. He/she will be responsible for several
activities, such as:

1. Producing a 100% accurate translation of Indonesia text to English.
Content accuracy includes detailed comparison of content, facts and figures
and making sure there are no omissions from the source; translations and
proofreading all footnotes and/or endnotes, captions under photographs,
lists etc.; accurate exact and agreed upon translation of SNV Indonesia and
title; accurate and consistent usage of SNV terminology/Better Management
Practices Rubber adapted to Indonesia. The details of translation documents
will consist of seven modules about best management practices for rubber
commodity.

2. Ensuring Indonesian language excellence and proofreading, including
excellent Indonesian language, vocabulary, syntax, expression and grammar as
well as all relevant terminology.

3. Ensuring quality check and proofreading of translation; ensuring that no
typographical errors left in the final text.

4. The translation submitted to Commodities and Climate Change under this
TOR is the property of SNV Indonesia and cannot be submitted, distributed to
or used by any other party, unless arranged otherwise.

5. The translator is obligated to work within the required deadlines and be
available to SNV Indonesia for comments and corrections.

Requirements

* Ability to do basic research and analysis in a variety of
technical fields relating to BMP Rubber for Smallholder, and/or to become
familiar with the technical terminology involved in each subject matter
field, is required

* Minimum of 2 (two) years of professional experience with
translation and interpretation, both consecutive and simultaneous, between
English and Bahasa Indonesia is required

* Technical and/or specialized terms unique to environmental field
in English and Bahasa Indonesia, and the ability to use proper
terminologies, idiomatic phrasing, syntactical structure, and use of words
to reflect the meaning of the original document accurately is critical.

* Written and verbal fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is a
prerequisite

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required

Deadline for Outputs

All the translation documents need to be submit to SNV Indonesia no later
than 31 August 2015.

The details of translation documents will consist of handbook (100 pages),
participant guide (50 pages) and trainer guide (150 pages) with total
documents will be approx. 300 pages to be translate. The number of pages are
flexible and can be change due to the original documents.

The output would be all the documents (handbook, trainer guide and
participant guide) were translate from Bahasa Indonesia to English.
