Request for Proposal (RFP)
A.
Background
SMART Lab Program is a university partnership program between USAID and Yayasan
Putera Sampoerna (Putera Sampoerna Foundation – PSF), in collaboration with Intel
Indonesia Corporation, the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) and Tufts University, with the ultimate goal to improve STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) at high school level in Indonesia through establishing four STEM model schools, training and
preparing 500 STEM teachers and inspiring 6.000 students. PSF has assigned Universitas Siswa
Bangsa Internasional – Sampoerna University (SU) to manage the operationalization
of the SMART Lab Program.
In order
to support this program’s goal, the SMART Lab Program takes initiative to
organize arduino training for basic, intermediate and advanced levels, not to
mention arduino competition.
Arduino
training for basic, intermediate, and advanced levels is designed for selected
and interested students from four pilot schools and non-pilot schools (only
basic). In this training, students are provided with arduino understanding and
trained to develop arduino-based projects (basic, intermediate and advanced
projects).
The
training will be conducted in Jakarta, Malang and Batu regularly. It is
proposed that the training in Jakarta for model schools and non-model schools
be conducted twice a week with a schema of full-day training, whilst the
training in Malang and Batu is carried out once a week with two full day
training schema for each. This schedule is open for discussion and negotiation.
However, toward the middle of December 2015, all selected interested students
from four model schools are able to produce three different formats of
arduino-based projects.
In late
November 2015, there will be an arduino competition in Jakarta where some of
the selected students participating in the training are invited to join it.
B. Objective
This training and competition are primarily aimed
to:
· Introduce arduino to senior high school students
· Motivate senior high school students by showing what they
can actually do with arduino
· Enable senior high school students to produce arduino-based
products/projects which might help their everyday problems
C. Scope of Work
The hired consultant is required to do
the following tasks:
· Design and develop three sets of arduino modules for basic,
intermediate and advanced levels for the training
· Facilitate regular training in Jakarta, Malang and Batu
· Enable participating students to come up with three different
formats of arduino-based projects toward the middle of December 2015
· Conceptualize a schema of arduino competition, including
competition challenge and scoring method
· Write a monthly report outlining progress of student
understanding/achievement from the training
· Write a final report of the training and competition
D. Deliverables and
Timeline (it’s tentative, based upon further discussion with the hired
consultant)
The hired consultant is expected
to come up with the following delivarables:
